Mark,
There's an orange tabby named Oliver at my local Wild Birds store. Nice cat images.
Dave
Thanks, Dave. It was very nice of them to cooperate and take turns posing for me.:D

Wow! The shots on this page are all superb!! They really have some "pop" to them!
@David - You should check out my friend Todd's photostream on flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/gilbertdogs/, you two have alot in common! He even shoots with a 70-300mm but I don't think his is an "L".
Denise, I had noticed in your favorites that you found yourself a second Zuni. :)
A few more of our Gus. Still working on getting a good indoor photo of him, guess I need to start learning about speedflashes.

Great shots everyone. Mark, did you put the cats on the table to photograph them, or did they decide to sit there one after another? My guess is the latter ...
DavidE, love the snow shots, great action shots.
DavidF, that's a beautiful dog, but not easy to photograph. How did you use the flash for these?
These were actually taken back in November and I was thinking that I didn't use a flash because I thought I had used my 5D2. However in looking at the Exif data I see that they were taken with a Nikon D300s I was trying out - but I don't know if the flash fired or not. Does "Flash On, Return Detected" mean it did or didn't fire?
So much for my memory.
I need to get a good speedlight and try again with the 5D2. He'll make a great speedlight training subject.
Dave
Update: I don't see any sign of a flash in his eyes, so no flash.
Really like all these shots.
Mark you probably should make a disclosure using professional models.
David same for professional athletes like Zuni.
David, I love that last shot, a sensitive and thoughtful portrait.
Keep them coming guys.
Another shot with the pancake lens.

These are from the first pics with my new camera so still have to figure out what does what . I find the 7D layout much different than my T2i, and bit trickier with mitts on, but pleased so far either way. Shots are with my 24-105L at f4

Not MY pet, but somebody's pet. A 9 week only Doberman came to visit us, to learn about those little humans. I think he learned that little humans are good. They supply you with lots of yummy treats... but they do really odd things.

That's pretty sweet Mark, great high ISO performance.
I picked up the camera to shoot something else, but somehow the dogs got their shots taken instead.
Cagney, the brown Aussie, has some special news to share. I'll just copy the Flickr description from #2:
"For the last few months, Cagney has been getting extra-comfy around here. She seems to think we're her forever home. So, after 10 months of being our foster baby, tomorrow we're adopting her. Welcome home, Cagney."

That is fantastic news, David!! Congrats to the new permanent addition to your family :-)
Thanks Denise. I'm sure Cagney would be thrilled too, if she had any idea anything was changing. :)
David, you are way behind I think. Cagney already adopted you a long time ago. Just thank her alright :)

DavidWare, nice set of shots.
James, you're reminding me I desperately need a flash. Love the last one.
ahab, you're right, she did. She arrived from a previous owner, somewhere in the US, extremely fearful. Well, "Extremely Fearful" doesn't do her condition justice. She would be hiding in crates, under beds, in basements, whatever was the deepest, darkest, least likely to be seen place she could find. She wouldn't venture out of her hiding place, even for food or drink. She would have to be forced outside for bathroom breaks, because she sure wasn't going on her own. I have no idea what somebody put her and her sister through, to make them like that. After arriving in town, she went through several foster homes, and even got herself adopted once, and returned. Eventually, she ended up with us.
She wasn't quite as bad when we got her. She would run from basement, to crate, to outside, but she DID go outside willingly, and she ate, and accepted walks, if you could catch her. She loved having Zuni to play with, and Zuni loved having her. After a few months, she (mostly) stopped running away at the sight of us. After another couple months, and she started to snuggle, and poked us with her nose, asking to be petted. She would run and play with other dogs at a local agility club, and bravely visit the other dog's owners. Outside anywhere else though, if she saw a person, or a car, or anything, she would still shut down, going into panic mode. Even if it was us at home, but somehow vaguely out of the ordinary, carrying mail or laundry, she would bolt.
Recently though, she's getting very brave. Trusting us more and more, and even standing in the front window, barking at everything that goes by. She's also turned into the cuddliest, snuggliest dog we've ever had. She has a long way to go, but she's come so very far. She's accepted us, and loves us. I can't imagine how she'd react if we were taken away from her, and she was adopted out to another family. So, yeah, we're slow in making it official, but she did adopt us a while back, and we knew it.
Thank you. I want to try and get some action shots of pets, but having a lazy cat doesnt really help much with that. He is an outstanding subject for portraiture though. I guess I'm going to have to get myself a new kitten, or better yet, a puppy!

Congrats on the new pooch!! What breed is Satchmo? I have a feeling that toy in the first shot isn't going to last this big baby very long!
It is a "Tibetan Mastiff". It is my brother's family dog - so that makes me her uncle - right?
We finally got some snow in SE Wisconsin overnight and temps reached around +14 so the boys were able to get out and play at bit ...
