Re: Post your best current shots
Wally,
Nice shot. Looks like you had much better weather than I did 2 years ago when I took one of these ferry rides. Pretty gloomy the day I went but it almost looks like the boat in the background is trying to splash the front of the opera house.

A recent picture from the zoo. This lion looks to be longing to run across the plains of Africa.

Re: Post your best current shots
My shooting has really been off the last couple days! Still, it has been such beautiful weather, I couldn't resist sitting by the lake after work & taking a few shots!
Too bad it's blurry or this could have been a pretty cool shot! Did what I could with it to reduce some of the blur ...

Denise,

Since I got my Tamron 70-300 I have tried shooting birds and found how incredibly hard they are[:|]

Re: Post your best current shots
Thanks, Mark! My keeper rate has been way down there lately and some I keep that I normally would toss just to have a few left!
Here is one that I applied alittle HDR effect to which I'm not sure I like but kept anyway. It is my first photograph showing fall is in the air ...my favorite time of year! To me, it is like watching a photographers volcano about to erupt in full color and I can't wait for the full eruption!
Iwant this house! The sun sets in front of them...what a beautiful view they have! This is my favorite spot on Silver Lake to stop at on my way home from work in the evening! When I was little, my father took me fishing and swimming here every weekend in the summer! Fond memories!

Re: Post your best current shots
Went to a cemetary nearby today to take some more shots. I was trying to vary my shots a bit more today, though i am still working with the 18-55mm VR... It can be a chore to get close enough to a dragonfly or a swan to shoot with a FL of only 55mm, however I am loving the shorter FL cloud shots! heres the best that I did!

Truly beautiful photos, Brant! I wish I could have gotten this close of shots when I went to Horicon Marsh!
Here is a huge spider web I found on the side of my garage ....to bad the gigantic spider that built it wasn't still there!

My youngest daughter found a photo I took on this website ....

I didn't even know it was there but sort of flattering since the photos it is with sure are beautiful! Mine is the orange in the middle of the page.

She could also post that spiderweb. Excellent picture. It is almost an optical illusion.

Re: Post your best current shots
Hopefully I will have some best current shots with my new 50mm soon! UPS dropped it off about 30 min ago. I can't wait to use it this weekend and see what I have been missing in terms of focus speed and quality with the 1.8! [:D]

Re: Post your best current shots
Congrats on the new glass!! You are going to love it! I am hoping to get another copy soon!
Something happened to Mr. Cardinal overnight :( He is the only male cardinal that comes to my yard & Mrs. Cardinal is nowhere to be found! I think maybe he tried to protect her from something but wasn't successful :( I remember the day in early spring when he courted her ...they were by each others side ever since!

Re: Post your best current shots
Denise, sorry about your cardinals :( I had a big hawk eating a bird in my yard a day ago. I haven't seen many other birds around since then.
Baker, the 50 f1.4 is easily one of my favorite lenses. I think you will really like it.
This squirrel is probably saying, "oh man, where's all my sugar water?" To which I would respond, "well, maybe if you wouldn't have broken another humming bird feeder (second this year) I wouldn't have taken them down for the year!!"

Re: Post your best current shots
Here's one I took last night. I was at church shortly before a service began, and looked out the window and noticed two things: 1. the sun had dropped below the overcast cloud ceiling and 2. it was raining. I grabbed my camera, and went outside in case there was a rainbow. There was:

Re: Post your best current shots
Jfrits---Wonderful shot. Love the warm light on the steeple. You might try to bump the exposure just a little on the foreground and side trees if your able to. If not, great shot anyway.

Re: Post your best current shots
Very nice picture Jfrits......I agree a little bump in exposure may help, but it is a great capture.
One from a few weeks ago:

Re: Post your best current shots
jFritz.....nice capture and I agree w/the exposure comments. If you have photoshop, give the dark and shadow bars a few ticks to lighten up the foreground and woods.
CORRECTION 9/25: THIS LOOK IS CAUSED BY FEATHER LICE. IN MY AREA CARDINALS AND BLUE JAYS ARE THE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO THESE PARASITES.
Denise....your bird pix are great, I'm really enjoying them.
Concerning Mr. Cardinal...there's nothing wrong w/him other than it's molt (new batch of feathers) season.
As for the Mrs., breeding season is pretty much over and Cardinals don't mate for life.
Or she looked in the mirror and is in hiding.......LOL

I really like this shot, I like the way the background worked for it and just enough fill lighting ----great looking bird too. Nice shot,

Re: Post your best current shots
Thanks Bob and Steve --- nice of you to say that. I struggled a bit with the post-processing of the Banff Springs photo, because the 5-stop solid ND creates a strong colour cast that is a bugger to remove. I used the individual colour adjustment sliders in LIghtroom, but it was time consuming and I'm still not 100% happy with getting it back to the way it was in the eyepiece. I should post the before & after shots in a separate thread, so you can see what I mean.
The bighorn sheep appeared to be quite docile, and one guy actually got out of his car and approached them with a point & shoot. That's a rather crazy move, in my books.
