Re: What did you shoot....January 3rd - Jan 9th?
Thanks Jonathan, appreciate it. I was thinking of your pre-Christmas family shot in the snow and remembered it had an almost 3D effect. You guys seemed to pop out of the background. I really liked it. Was it a feature of the 85mm? Is it PP? Have we ever had a thread discuccing or highlighjting the ability of some lens to do this?
If not I

Steve, that family shot (found here, for reference: http://community.the-digital-picture.com/image_presentation1/f/15/p/5331/46560.aspx#46560) was taken with the 85 f/1.2 lens set at f/2.0. I used an on-camerafill flash, and that might be one of the reasons it seems to pop so much. Other than that, I'm not smart enough to know why it worked... really it was dumb luck on my part!

Thanks Jonathan.
Hey HD, I love your dog shot, love the trail of water coming of the tail, nice action shot.

Thanks Steve, it was overcast when I took this and this was one of the few pics that came out without motion blur. I really didn't even think about the tail spray I was just trying to catch some action pics of the pup, when I got home there were some that were real interesting because he was wagging his tail like crazy. Some had full circles, some trails that looked like figure 8's. I am going to try it again on a day with a little more light.

Decided togo fora driveto Cook's Bay. I didn't realize that after leaving the parking spot that I had actually parked on a frozen lake. Snowkiting, snowmobiling, ice hockey and ice fishing just to name a few on the activity menu. Knowing my luck, I would be the only that would have the ice give way under me, I guess the *gods* were looking the other way!

Elmo, the third pic, the guy 20 feet in the air. Are they supposed to be hang gliding like that? That is an interesting shot.

You can notfind a lot of open water around here (everything is iced over), but the small amount of open water really concentrates the water fowl. Here are a couple of swans.
