Yes, I have read about the slow or inconsistant AF--But I cant really expect L performance from a $300 lens---I would really like to, but I can't--I am thinking that Ican tolerate the slower af, then the rest should be ok---especially for the $1000 price difference I am pretty sure I can compromise a little [:D]--especially for something I won't use very often.
