Re: Post Your Best Surfing Shots
If the northeast had surfers like Waikiki, I'd do more surfing photos.
These pix were taken last December at Rye Beach, NH. Unfortunately, winter seems to be the surfing season in the NE.
This pic is just an example of the occasional waves surfers get in MA & NH.

Neuro....I have to ask; what are you basing your comment on about the NE not having any mountains?

Here in NE, we've got the Green Mountains and the White Mountains. I grew up in California, in the Santa Clara Valley (nowsynonymouswith Silicon Valley) - what we called hills surround the valley, and at up to 5000 feet those 'hills' are taller than the Green Mountains and many of the peaks in the White Mountains. The White Mountains are topped off by Mt. Washington at over 6000 ft. A drive of 2-3 hours from where I grew up and went to college took me to the Sierra Nevada range, which are mostly 5000-10000 ft peaks, topped by Mt. Whitney at over 14000 ft. I'm not sure what amenities you can enjoy on top of Mt Washington at 6000 ft (besides a lot of wind), but Lake Tahoe on the CA/NV line sits at about the same height and is a city of around 35000 people, with lots of casinos on the Nevada side of the state line. The lake is surrounded by ski resorts - and lifts of some of them go up to ~10000 ft. Those are real mountains...what we have here, well, I call them big hills... [:P]
Great sufting pics, Bill! I'll have to spend a little time at the beach this coming winter.

John....I've been in a couple of those Tahoe casinos....I wouldn't call them amenities. Now the Mt Wash wx station w/hot chocolate (and schnapps) is an amenity. [:P]
You westerners are all the same....altitude, altitude, elevation, elevation and on and on. With exception of a handful or so, you compare verticals and the discrepancies become less.
Also, cut us, I mean Appalachians a break....they're old, shrinking, and worn down. In their day, scientists speculate they were higher than the Himalayas today.
Join me to hike a few of the 4000s in the Whites and then tell me they're just "big hills".
[:D] [;)]
Glad you liked the surfing pix John....thanks.
Bill

LOL. Heavenly has 17% more vertical than Killington, but you
