Justice Howard - I won't say what she photographed (I'll make you guys research that) but hey, she is a photographer!
Thomas Eakins - In 1882, Eakins is named director of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, and shapes the institution into the most progressive art school in the world, incorporating photography and dissection (WHAT!) into the painting curriculum. Eakins makes his own sequential photographs of moving humans and animals to improve his students' understanding of locomotion. He uses his students as models and assistants in experiments of his own that record multiple images on a single negative.
