My entries for this week will be two recent shots from a vacation trip last week. We spent several lazy days at the seaside and while the rest of the family were reading I was looking for photo opportunities.
My entry for the landscape category will be one of many sunset shots from the trip (the place is made for sunset shooting):
"Sunset rocks"

For the portrait category I selected a shot of a juvenile black-headed gull that was hanging around at the same spot along the shoreline as we.

Here's a portrait I'll throw into the mix. I got a candid shot of my girlfriend's father at the beach today.

And here is another landscape one before the deadline. I am going to call this one "Brave" because that's what I was called when bringing my 5D3 out on the water with me.

We'll close it here and let Jonathan get started with the judging.:)

Wow these are all terrific... I'm really glad the entry period is just one week long, otherwise there would be far too many excellent photos to choose from. I picked two black & white photos as the winners: In the portrait category, Brian's "Sunday Staredown", for the eye-catching pose, highlights, and bokeh. It's a unique shot that makes you stop and stare right back. And in the landscape category, I picked Brant's "Still Standing", for the leading lines, strong lighting, contrast, and story-telling composition. Awesome job everyone, and thanks so much for the honour of being this week's judge!
