Here's one of my favorite soccer pics from this past season. Dreary conditions as you can see the falling rain drops.

Hmmm, Something looks out of place here. If that were me at that age playing soccer, my white shirt would look closer in color to the shirt an the other two kids, perhaps with a little green smudged in there as well. I don't think I've ever seen a soccer kid with such a white shirt. [:D]
Very Nice picture anyways. nice DOF

Thanks Steve.
I use a screen capture tool built into Mac OS and grab the image from the Metadata Tab in Aperture then insert the image in my comments using the rich formatting tool for the reply.

Re: -NEW- Assignment 14: Be creative with Depth Of Field
Here are a few froma few from a walk around the garden last week with my new Sigma85mm.
The first is a bird. Bird of paradise the camera focused on the purple and there is a little ant in focus on the underside of the purple but the rest of the plant is OOF and the creamy blur behind is what the 85 can do. First can be my entry, others are just for to share.

And finally , Weeding not wee... A candid shot of the gardener, yanking weeds after all the rain.

Ha ha! Thanks. At ages 4-5, there weren't a ton of kids rolling around on the ground. This shot, as I recall, was pretty early on in the game, probably about 5 minutes after it started raining. I have pics from later on where they were soaked. The shirts were much less clean. [:D]

Hello, and thank you for your information! I wanted to figure out a way to do this without Aperture, so I searched the usual google, and found this,I wonder if it will do the same thing? If not, well I hope it helps others! guides.macrumors.com/Taking_Screenshots_in_Mac_OS_X

I'm sorry, I must have missed something here. What is it that you are trying to accomplish by doing a Screen Capture of your computer screen / monitor?

Lots of awesome entries so far.
While my macro-salt shaker was fairly thin DOF, it was also a pretty crappy image. Below ismy entry, a thin DOF black-capped chickadee, having a snack.

Well, that is cropped to maybe 1/7th or 1/8th of the original frame, but yeah, these guy will sit in your hand and eat. And they'll take their time, being picky. They'll pick up a seed, toss it. Pick up another, and toss that one too. Find a third, decide it's a keeper, and fly off to munch on it, before coming back for seconds (and thirds, and 20ths). Sometime they're in your palm for over 10 seconds at a time, though usually only 1 to 2.
With my old P&S superzoom, I'd hold seeds in one hand, and the camera up by my shoulder in the other, zoom in, and take frame filling shots. Chickadees are not shy birds, as shown below.I don't know if my wife's friend wants to be a model, so she's been cloned into an unrecognizable mess.

Re: -NEW- Assignment 14: Be creative with Depth Of Field
Here's one from tonight, that not only has a creative DOF, but is taken in horrible conditions with a kit lens (gasp!). I was just mucking around with minimum focus distance, or close to it, at 18mm.
T1i + 18-55mm IS kit lens @ 18mm, f/3.5, 1/4s, ISO 6400.

Here is mine
7D, 300mm 2.8L IS lens, f2.8,1/800,ISO400, tripod, 10/15/2010, PP ACR & CS5
I got really close to this very small bird(wild),so the bokeh looks pretty nice to me.I took about 15 burst shots, and this one seems the only keeper.
the reason of the low keeper rate was slower shutter speed due to low light condition and I 'm not comfortable with ISO higher than 400, this small bird kept moving and Tv 1/800 was not fast enough to capture its motion.

Re: -NEW- Assignment 14: Be creative with Depth Of Field
This was a tough choice, the popular option seemed to be animals and
people and I wanted to be original. I had a golf shot but saw that that
had been done as well (very nice shot by the way) So I'm submitting an
entry I don't have the EXIF data for. My apologies, but it was film and I
didn't write it down. Taken with a Canon AE-1, 12mm extension tube and a
50mm f/1.8 lens. Film was Kodak 400 B&W, potentially f/11 for this
shot and probably aroun 1/125s. The picture itself is my Canon XTi and a
Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX attached. Thanks for looking!

WOW! This assignment really went very well so far[Y]
I just want to remind everyone that today is the last chance to submit your photo(s)!!! So if you haven't done so and you still want to...please be fast!
Since I'm in Europe (Amsterdam time) I'll be waiting till mondaymorning before I'll give the judges the official go-ahead to look for the finalists. To avoid any time-zone issues...
Untill then:if you still want to post, please do so! And if you uploaded more than one photo, make sure it's clear to the judges which one is in for competition. If it's not clear, judges will only look at look at the first submission.
Hope everything is clear! Let's enjoy it these last few hours! And judges: make ready for some hardcore judging, this one is going to be tough[Y][;)]
