Although I haven't tried this, could you not put the camera in full manual, choose your aperture and shutter speed, and then let Auto ISO do the rest? That way you would always have the shutter speed and aperture you wanted, while still getting the exposure right. Am I correct?

Jonathan, Before yesterday, I was thinking the same thing you are. I did exactly that, Manual and fixed aperture and priority---But when I got home and looked at the pics, I realized therewas a full stop or more difference between shots. I was using spot metering and this could have been the reason---that spot can move alot in a series of action shots. The system may work better if you were to use evaluative or center weighted metering, I will have to test it before I try Auto ISO again. Lesson learned: check histogram often:)

I like those football shots, well done!
Here's a shot from yesterday. I was messing around with wide angle distortion :P

A raher boring but tranquil shot. The morning fog was really hurting me on many of the shots I took the other morning!

I like it Denise......if you have the space I would add some to both sides and then do a pano type crop.

+1 for what Joel said Denise. Its a lovely shot with beautiful light. I love how they are in near-perfect unison. Great timing on the trigger.

Re: Post your best current shots
Been a bit busy lately, not much time for shooting. Still, on Monday-Tuesday of this week, I was in southern NJ for a meeting, so I brought some gear with me, even knowing that the only free time I'd have would be late in the evening, and despite a forecast 60% chance of rain. My plan was to wander around Independence Park in Philadelphia for some night shots of historical landmarks. The rain never materialized, but I didn't count on the landmarks themselves, many of which seemed to be in various states of renovation, with scaffolding all over the place. The only clear shot on my short walkaround was of the Second Bank of the US:

I have to say, your corrected version with the TS-E 24mm sure looks better than the pic that wikipedia has on the website link you provided.

We went for a drive along the Highwood Pass in Alberta, which is the highest paved road in Canada (2200 m elevation). Plenty of snow to be found along the way! This is Elbow Lake, accessed via a short steep hike from the parking lot.

Re: Post your best current shots
Haven't spent a lot of time with the camera lately. Spring has sprung here in Brsibane and my other hobby, bonsai, needs a fair bit of attention in spring. So I have been repotting trees and trimming and fertilizing. Very hectic. I have about 4 benches of bonsais with about 20 on each bench, ranging from 4 inches high to 36 inches. Plus a heap still in plastic pots. There are figs, maples, junipers, Chinese elms, bougainvilleas and pines and I try and keep azaleas alive. Here are a couple of shots, excuse how bright it is, early morning and a lazy photographer.

And just playing around with 1.4 on the Zeiss, to try and create a bit of 3D.

This is an old bougainvillea that I dug up from a carpark, to try and save it and turn it into a bonsai. So far it lives and flowers, we'll just have to see what happens. This tree is about 2.5 feet tall and 3 inches thick at the base. It had been just surviving for quite a few years in the carpark and when I dug it up there weren't many roots at all, so now I have to just wait and try not to shock it with too much kindness.

Re: Post your best current shots
Wow, you're a bonsai and a camera nut like me too?
My collection got whittled down a bit after 3 years of being in europe, my parents took care of what they could for me but still lost a lot, managed to repot a lot of them in august, even then it was too late for some deciduous one that had already burst buds, and a lot were just too pot-bound to do much with. Still, with half what i had a few years ago i've got 2-3 pallets' worth.
And my favourite one was a juniper i picked up from the Woolworths carpark (i grabbed it with the car door open, my gf floored it, just ripped it out and drove off), it'd been run over a few too many times, had a nice gnarled bark with driftwood all over it. Sucks that i killed it before i even left for europe, but i just gotta move on and find a new plant for the pot...
edit: now i managed to find an old P&S photo of it when i first got him, makes me feel even worse that it didn't survive.
Poor Wooly. I never even pruned him, this is how he was growing in the carpark.

Hope you have better luck with the bougainvillea, it looks amazing so far, love the flowers too...

I was messing around in the "Print" section of LR3 for the first time today and made this. It's a pretty interesting feature once you figure out how to use it.
I would love some constructive criticism :)

I have tried it, but I cannot get more photos on there than 1, so I quit after a while ;)

I like the "collage" so to say. Nicely done. One thing that I would "critique" would be the two different tones. At the left side you have this greenish warm tone on the 3 photos and on the right side 2 photos you have a totally different tone. This is what makes the image not stick together for me. Perhaps a different order of photos would prevent this, but I don't know. Again, I like the idea.
It's already 2 weeks ago that I took my camera and made some photos. I shot these at about 2300-2400h. About a week before I discovered the amazing view at night at this location. It's just 1-1,5km from the neerest town, but on a small hill and I simply have never seen so much stars in my entire life. No moon, so even darker than normal:
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6239/...b00cc9b3_z.jpg
Exif: 5D2, 24mm, f4, 30sec, ISO1600
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6213/...0ae1a3b5_z.jpg
Exif: 5D2, 50mm, f1.4, 10sec, ISO1600
Shooting at night was very difficult! I took about 7 shots in almost 2 hours of which I only like these two. The others had much longer shutterspeeds, but had a lot of movement in the stars. Not enough to make it look as awesome as Ben's starcirlces though ;) If I have the opportunity again, I'm definitely going to make more longer exposures and fuse them.

A few days ago I sold my 35L and a few other things. I was able to get both the Sigma 50mm and 30mm at Abe's of Maine for less than used was going for on FM, and I still had plenty of $ left over to take care of a few non-photography related issues. The 50mm arrived this afternoon so I tried it out on the shot above and a few others. It is badly front-focusing even at +15! So, on Monday, I am sending it back for another copy.
I thought if I go non-canon on most of my lenses for awhile, I can keep photography going for alittle while longer but it is such a pain trying to get a good copy!
Denise
EDIT: The above photo was taken at +10 microadjustment. It looks ok but when I take shots of something specifically to test where it focuses it appears to be in front. Goodness, I am horrible at this!
