Keeping my fingers crossed that the next copy will be perfect!
Hmmm ...what is one to do when you totally blow out the side of a face from direct bright sun and your subject has absolutely no patience if you were to ask him to move into more even lighting?
Answer: Use LOTS of vignetting and hope nobody notices!

Nice shots with that new lens Denise. Primes just do it so well.
Here are a few from the storm that hit Brisbane this afternoon.

Crazy skies like that, zombies walking the earth......this is a sign of something...something really bad. ;)
Great pictures Steve. The first looks very angry....the second, I like how it looks like light and darkness are mixing....almost fighting each other....
Wow, Steve! I hope you ran for cover after taking these photos! That looks like one heck of a storm coming your way!
Ever wonder what goes through your dogs head sometimes when he sees you doing what you do? After seeing me laying on the ground, I think Lucky is wondering if I am ok and is ready to pull a Lassie and run for help! On second thought ...Lucky? Maybe not!

Wow... really nice shots, Denise. The first is my favorite.
I often try for that warm sunset look, but can never seem to pull it off :) But you hit that one perfectly.
Looks like it was a little windy over in Wisconson yesterday.
It was a bit breezy over on the Michigan sideof Lake Michigan also. Here are a couple from yesterday:

Beautiful shots, conropl! Yes, it was extremely windy here yesterday ...which ruined some of my landscape shots that I tried to do with slow shutter speed on the water but of course the trees in the shot didn't look so good!
But it was a great day for wind surfing!

Both were shot with a 7D with a B&W polarizer filter.
The first one:
- Shot with a 100-400mm <span style="color: #ff0000;"]L at 260mm.
- Camera settings of Tv=1/250 sec, Av=f/9, and ISO=200
The second one:
- Shot with a 24-105mm f/4<span style="color: #ff0000;"]L at 24mm
- Used a Cokin Grad ND filter over the polarizer
- Camera settings of Tv=91 sec, Av=f/18, and ISO=200
Pat
@Pat, Love the red of the building on the pier and the detail and contrast in the rocks is very good in the second one. Sometimes hard to get that so right when dealing with sunset/sunrise. Nice work.
@ Denise, another two classy B&W's, very different treatments, even though there is a large dark area of little detail in the first one, I actually like this shot the best, composition is perfect and the treatment is very artistic. Well done.
Steve
Wonderfull shots Pat!

A little over a week ago, I visited my parents in New Hampshire, and we took a hike up Mt Eisenhower. The full set is available at: https://picasaweb.google.com/107691146535396952671/Eisenhower2011 I just posted that I felt were the best of the lot. There are also a number of vacation-style snapshots included.
A nicely framed view of the foliage in the valley.

Joe, I've been meaning to comment, but nice photos, in particular, I like 1 & 3.
To keep the string of New Hampshire photos going, Sunday I went to "Castle in the Clouds." which is more of a very nice house with an amazing view of the Lakes region of central New Hampshire....I usually don't mess with photos too much, but there was some interesting light coming through the clouds, so I tried to excentuate it.

Nice landscape shots guys.
Australia just took delivery of its final lot of F/A18 Hornets and we were told this was a once in a life time fly over when you get just over 2 billion dollars worth of jet fighters flying in one little group. So they shut down the air space over Brisbane for a 20 minute period and these 20 "top guns" buzzed the city.

Absolutely beautiful shots, Brant!! Very well captured!
@ Steve - Looks like you are sure having a busy few weeks lately with lots of different subjects to shoot! I love looking at the variety you always have to show!

When I saw the picture of the bridge plate I about cracked up. I have almost the exact same picture from a few years back, although my reason for taking it was probably diffrent from yours. I was bidding a project and we were moving a Wheeler Bridge. I took a picture of the plate took it back to the office then called them up and and they gave me the weight and instructions on moving and errecting it.
Went to the festival today. Spent time just shooting faces with my 1DmkIIN and Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 Di VC mostly at 300mm f5.6 and ISO 800

Mark....nice shots....really like the exposure you were able to get despite what looks to be ~mid-day light........
Denise and NFL Stephen.....love both of the #1s.....nice shooting..........
@dsiegel, I love the narrow DOF on the 3rd shot!
@Mark, I love the last shot best! Nice capture and beautiful bokeh of your granddaughter on the bull.
@Denise, I love the last one, because I love the location of the Sun and it's reflection as it pulls me eye into the frame.
@NFLD, I love the 3rd shot. What a great silhouette. I especially love the capture of the flag at half mast, as it adds to the mood. Do you know why the flag was at half mast on this day?
Rich
Thanks! Those were taken last night and this morning, I went out for sunrise shots but it wasn't the prettiest I've seen ...a lot of fog.
NFLD - Love the silhouette of the last shot!

The one with the claw sticking out in front of him (the 5th one) fits the new assignment... the claws look sharp.
The color in the sunrise over Lake Michigan looks nice.

Nice sky in all of them, the last one is my favorite. I like Lighthouses.
Well I went to the zombie walk again there were thousands and thousands. They came in waves lurching down the street. Make-up was spectacular, these first two images if you look at the large versions on Flickr you can see the contact lenses they put in. The first one I call,
