I have looked for a diffuser for the ring flash but have not found anything. Does anyone know of one or would I just need to do a DIY type of diffuser?

I haven't seen a commercially available diffuser for the MR-14EX - probably because there's sort of one already built in (the flash tubes have a translucent cover, compared to most flashes, including the MT-24EX, where the cover is transparent).

Time to get this thread moving again! It's been 2 weeks since the last post.
My 3 and a half year old son came running to me this afternoon, excited about the "huge bug" he found in the sandbox. Turns out it was a pretty big beetle (2" long I'd say). A little internet research shows that it's a reddish-brown stag beetle. He was alive and well and not that interested in being photographed, so our time together was short.
7D and 100L Macro on a tripod @ f/11.

My favourite one of the last few weeks. I think i'm gonna print it big-size one day.
It's some kind of native australian wasp having a nomnom on the
flowers of the vine in my back yard. saw it out the window having my
morning coffee, i just love the colours in the morning sunlight (just
wish i'd had my cpl on there too). now every night i leave the setup by
the back door to get outside faster if i see anything else flying
around, the flowers look like they'll last another month maybe.

7D, 70-300L, 12+20+36mm kenko tubes, -1/3EV, f7.1, iso800, 244mm,
1/250s. camera LJPG (didn't have time to press the RAW button), bit of
cropping and scaled to upload here, no colour adjustments at all.
Between the flowers swaying in the wind, Manual Focus because of the
tubes, 8FPS of the 7D, and the few seconds s/he spent on each flower,
this was one of only a few focussed on anything good. I want a 100L
Macro!

This unique insect was on my porch tonight eating insects under the porch light. Like I mentioned before insects creep me out big time but they do make for interesting macro subjects. At first I could not get this guy to settle down as I would set him down and he would race to the edge of the table and take a nose dive to the floor. Stuck it in the fridge for 15 minutes to try and slow him down where it did not work like I wanted. Finally got him to settle down for a moment to get some decent shots and then released it back out into the yard. 5D2, 100mm IS macro, no extensions tubes, almost no cropping, shutter 1/20, av f/18.

That is REALLY creepy, freelanceshots! What the heck is it!?
These Japanese Beetles are back with a vengeance and wrecking havoc on my gardens!! If anyone has suggestions on how the heck to get rid of them, please let me know!

Just introduce them to a Chinese beetle. I found out that the Japanese people don't like the Chinese and vice versa. they will get pretty upset if you associate one with the other. If that holds true then the Jap beetles should jump ship. All joking aside you need a chemical spray from the lawn and garden store. As for my bug I have been unable to identify it. I sent pictures to a few of the insect sites online and they could not provide any identification.
