Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
This is what most photographers would consider very bad example of bokeh. But actually I used it for a creative affect, I also tried my older 55mm f/2 which made a totally smooth bokeh but I liked this better. Plus I didn't frame it exactly the same and deleted without thinking that it would make a very good comparison.
Anyway here it is.

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Here are couple of pictures from my front yard. Currently I have a bit of an infestation of Cicada Killer Wasps. While kind of scary looking they are fairly harmless. Both are female wasps probably around two inches in length.

@ Neuro, Jayson & Lancer - Now these are some awesome shots!! [Y] [Y] [Y]
Anyone else noticing a very low count of butterflies this summer? Last year at this time I have shots of butterflies all over, now I rarely see them! [:(]

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Wow Denise, your shots are all awesome - so sharp and vibrant. Your dragon fly shots are really good - great light. Did you use your 100mm Macro for those?
Well you've inspired me.....Here's my first submission on this site! Hope it works, not sure I uploaded correctly.
C&C welcome.

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Thanks, Damian! Actually, for those I used my 100-400mm lens.
Your shot is really, really good! These are so hard to catch in flight! Sometimes I think I must look like a real idiot trying to track them up, down, left, right! I love the way both you and Neuro captured the wing movement! Only suggestion I may have for your shot (which I rarely suggest anything since I

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Wow, such great optics that 100-400....so sharp.
Thanks Denise. Kind of a nerve-wracking thing posting my first one. Any way, thanks for the critique too.
Yes, it definitely was not easy (but still fun!). I sat by this pond for a few hours where a few of these DFs were feeding and must have taken 100 shots - I think I kept 3. The original is heavily cropped as I was using my 24-105mm. Hmmmmm I feel a bout of "L" disease coming on....

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
While not a great wolf picture. I would have to file it as one of my best since I have so few. 100% crop, with the 500mm hand held about 200 yards away. Madison River at Yellowstone

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
This one is in the Grand Teton's, shot from the passenger side of your Yukon through the drivers window. I am not sure I like the way I croped it because you eyes are drawn to the OF mom first. But that really is how you first see the baby, you see the Mom first then notice the baby. 1DIV with the 500mm handheld.

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
I think the deer photo is great and I really like the composition showing mom in the distance watching you! As for the wolf photo, I would love to get a shot like this but at the same time ...I would be scared to death to get a shot like this!

Tsk tsk, Denise. I thought this was a family-oriented site, and here you are showing a pair of dragonflies 'in the act'... (the second one is duller in color and is bent around underneath). Nice capture!

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
This one isn't wild. It was from a zoo. I tried to build off the patterns and create several triangles in this shot. This is a cropped shot, but for once I actually had this image in my mind and then just waited for the giraffes to cooperate. What do you think?
