Here's what I came up with playing around a little.
Yes, the bird does look less blue to me., sometimes when you change one setting, it will mess up another one, so, now I would try to up the exposure slightly. Just play around a little with exposure, WB, Contrast, vibrancy and saturation. Take a look at how each of the settings affects the image. If there's noise then de-noise first. Another interesting setting is blackpoint. I find that less is more when it comes to adjustments.

Bob,
I like your birds in the dark, I think if you worked with some filters in pp you could make it look like a painting, very artsy to me.

These are the best I have to date. C&C more than welcome. Captured these in the park sitting in the car. 7D, 70-200L f/4 IS, Kenko 1.4x TC
Hi Joel,
I like the sharpness, exposure and the contrast in the 2nd shot. Nice catch light in the eyes using the better beamer.
Rich
Jayson,
Very Nice set of photos. I especially like the head angle and pose on the 1st shot. The head is a little soft in focus comapred to the middle of the body, perhaps you missed AF point on the head slightly, or the bird turned its head as you took the shot?
On #2, I would suggest to lower the exposure slightly, and raise the black point slightly, to see if the black stripe on the bird could pop a little more. (Other suggestions in PP for this effect, may be to try and increase the shadows or raise the contrast a bit.)
The 3rd one is nice too, perhaps you could try and clone out the branch coming out of the back of the birds upper back and clone out some of the branches in the left upper corner of the frame.
Nice Job!
Rich
Thanks Rich for the comments. The focus point was on his shoulder. He was about 10 feet above the window of the car that I was sitting in so hitting the head was a little difficult. I wish I could have cause I really would have loved the shot. I am going to try to your suggestions for the final output and see what I can do. Thanks again!
Jayson
Nice shots, Jayson. the Kenko 1.4X TC did a very good job with the 70-200 f4.0.IMO
I like the 3rd one the most. there are some branch may need to be removed in PP, but unless you are very lucky, I think this is almost the best you can get for shooting wild small birds without any setting up.

Thanks for viewing, commenting and critiquing, I don't have the shooting info with me right now.
Nate,
I really love the lighting on the first, Nate. Beautiful.
The second and third are up to your usual high standards as well, but the first is my favorite.
Great to see you here again Nate. Great pics too :)
Nate, Outstanding as usual---My favorite is the skimmer, but I really like the aggresiveness of the osprey as well.
Bob
Nate, absolutely stunning! I am with Bob on the skimmer picture, that is awesome! [Y]Probably took more patients than I have to catch that osprey.
A Red Bellied Woodpecker.....notice the seeds I planted in the fork of the stump as an attractant.

These are my best,so bare with me? I don't really use any processing simply because I don't know when to, or when to stop! I am colorblind as well, so what looks green or red to you...ugh to me :( :)

Joel, the woodpecker and the jay are simply stunning. I can't believe how razor sharp they are.
Geese a gandering. Are these geese, or are they mallards, or are they dancers?
I see they are mixed! Canadian,Mallards, and? I couldn't produce very spectacular images, though these are really nicehttp://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/...t/_MG_5043.jpg

Joel,
He looks like Santa with a white beard and a red hat!
I really love the Woodpecker shot too, great detail and resolution, wonderful contrast, and a really nice creamy background.

The flowers on the grevilleas are attracting the lorikeets, so I have a couple that I took today.

Junco (snow bird) ... appropriate since it's 17 degrees and snowing !! Everything is white so I had to push the exposure way right to capture the bird correctly so the background blew out

Hey Denise,
very nice work on the GBH. You did well with the focus and sharpness against that type of background .... kudos!!
Good Morning Joel -
Coming from "The Birdman" himself, who's work I highly admire, I consider this a huge compliment!! Thank you! [:D]
Denise
Denise, that is very nice of you to say, thank you so much!!
This shot is a Female Northern Cardinal, again the background is gone because it was a bright white day (snow) and to get enough exposure on the subject I had to let the background totally blow out.
Nice shots Joel.
But tell me something is that your lucky stick, both birds are sitting on the same branch.
Is that glue under their claws?[:D]
Steve
Thanks Steve,
I put up various perches, use them for awhile and then change to something else. This was the branch I used last Saturday morning and got several different birds to perch on it. (I have about 4 acres of woods so there is a never ending supply of branches falling).
I guess I should be more careful not to post too many images with the same perch but I have found, by setting things a certain way, you can predict where the birds will land and thus increase your odds of getting keeper images. The biggest challenge is that these little birds seldom stop moving even when perched.
