I've tried four rental shops and lensrentals.com had the best service and quality. They are usually about the same price or sometimes a little more, but it's well worth it to get lenses that are in perfect shape optically and mechanically as well as always on-time delivery. Plus they have a great web site and the founder, Roger, shares a ton of great information on the web (much like the-digital-picture.com).

Thanks for the heads up about Acadia and Lensrental.com. It doesn't sound like I should rent the 100-400. I'll have to find some other time to test it.
