Great shots, Mark - these and the other ones on your Flickr stream.
Congrats, Grandpa!!
Congratulations Mark! Very nice work!
Congrats grandpa Mark. Great series of PIXS.
Congrats Mark, beautiful.
And I really like the political pose on your man from Nigeria.
I wouldn't say these are my best, buy our latest. I really like this kind of lighting. What do you think?

Nice ones, what a great smile.
Here are two shots from last week-end. I'm pretty happy but I'd be glad to get some comments :D
For the background, I put a white collapsible background with two speedlites on each side. Both in manual but at different power during the shoot.
For the foreground, I had a reflective umbrella with a single speedlite with 1/4 CTO just to add a tiny bit of warmth.
Both shots are 1/100s, f/5.6 @ 105mm (using the 24-105)

James - I do not know how I missed your baby shot, but that is great... a real stand out.
Mark - Very nice... as all yours always are (consistently very good). She can still wear shorts down there?
I'd guess you get more than 10 months summer, or atleast less than two months of winter. Perhaps 2 weeks winter, and 3 weeks each of fall and spring. Maybe it's colder up where you are than where my dad is.
My dad is near McAllen, TX, fairly south, near the Mexican border. One winter we visited him around Late Jan-Early Feb. We took a trip out to South Padre Island. It was 25C/77F, and we came home sunburned. I'm sure all the native Texans were in their warmest winter gear, but I consider that a warm summer day, despite it being in the middle of winter. In the mornings we could go out to the porch swing with a blanket, as it was like 14C/57F... I'd say that's a warm spring/fall day.
It sounds nice until you remember how hot the summer days are. ;)
Had another fun photo shoot

Mark were you participating with camera in hand or a casual spectator? Looks like it would have been a good time viewing. That is one man concentrating on his assignment!
No, I was a spectator. And using the 400mm f5.6 helped with the candid aspect of it. He never noticed me.

Mark, beautiful photo! Lighting is perfect from my point of view.
Mark:
This is a great shot. I also went through your flickr post, and you have been on fire. You have a real knack for baby and family portraits. And I agree with Jayson, your lighting is spot on.

Great shots John!
Okay this isn't the traditional portrait shot, but I am trying something for a Valentine's gift.
What do you guys think of this? I added the text from the opening lines of her favorite book and displaced it over her photo.

Cool concept Jayson.
#1 seems a little washed out. For example, there is very little detail to her nose. Regarding the words, if you think she will be able to understand the meaning by looking at it, great. But the source of the words doesn't jump out at me.
#2...the vertical lines are a little "The Matrix" esque. I would do something to break up the vertical pattern and give definition to her chin.
Of course, not trying to be critical, just suggestions, as I think the idea is great...and a lot better than what I had planned....which...ahhh...thanks for the reminder...I need to work on something. ;)
got some more shot of my brother this week, I think I did a LOT better on the lighting this time!
P.S he feels naked without the hat so he will never have a photo taken without it.
