I really like all three shots, Jan! I hope you got those printed!!
I agree with Denise...Those shots look awesome.
Thanks guys:) I'm not sure if these get printed. They will probably end up in the "Best of year xxxx" book" at the end of the year.
Since the weather really cooperates and I always wanted to try a star trail I went out again yesterday. It became very foggy and I didn't really check my focus, so I quit after only half an hour of 30sec exposures. Tonight it's supposedly a clear sky again so who knows :D

Alright Jan, stop showing off :D Those star trail shots are great. I would definitely get at least one printed and hang in the photography room. But that's me.:p
Pat, great catch... Those are pretty great. Never though of salmon in that area.
That must have been awesome to see, Pat! Nice shots!
It rained for two days so things are really blossoming now!

Some blue sky for about 2 minutes for me to at least take this shot, then back to a gray dreary day!

Thanks everyone for the comments on my nightshots.I will probably stop taking them for a while. The weather has changed a bit and the skies aren't probably that clear at night for a while now. It was new moon last week which was great. Also the time has changed, it's 1 hour later now. That and the progressing longer days will mean that if I want to do some star-shots it will have to be (long)after midnight. To start with. From 11pm to about 1 o'clock was still manageable on a weeks day, but from 1-2am for example isn't so much for me:pI took the chances while I could. It's getting better weather now, so up to different types of photos! (the extension tubes I ordered got in yesterday:D)
@thekingb, very nice shots of your son(s?), sorry they look so much alike:)
@Dustin, those are great photos! I'm a big fan of lizards. I had all types of them as pets when I was young. Including the Green Anole which make these shots even better to me:D Are they wild by the way? I cannot believe you've shot these with a 50mm lens:eek:
@Pat, those shots are awesome.
Tail and ears of that of a Muskrat - if a beaver tail where verticle it would be offset. Beaver ears are shaped and colored differently,
Jan, one of my collaborators does research on lizards. We went to Louisiana to collect data for some of his projects. I hate to give away trade secrets, but the right leg of both of those lizards is tethered to a tree with a little loop of nylon string. Other than this method, I don't think it would be possible to get a semi-macro shot of a Six-lined Racerunner. They are called "racerunners" for a reason!
Collected salamanders this weekend for some of my research. Here is a little Long-tailed Salamander.

Paid a visit today to Alberta's newest provincial park, Glenbow Ranch. It is just outside Calgary, and has an excellent array of pathways. There appear to be lots of great sunset opportunities here... I'll be back!

This isn't the most creative pic, but I really like the way the background melted away. It really screams "couldn't do that with a point and shoot".

Been a while; I've forgotten how much I enjoy you guys' work! Those star trails are just awesome!
My girl turned two today, so figure I'd share a current shot. I took this yesterday as she was "daydreaming" while staring out the window. 7D, 35mm f/1.4L @ f/2.0, 1/50s, ISO 100.

Wow that 35m L is smooooooth. Your little girl's a cutie too.
I bought the 35mm f/2.0 on Friday, here's one of my favourite shots with it so far:

Everything I shoot with it feels either like a retro shot, or a still from a film.

Great Evo shots, Ive always loved the look of that car. you captured it very well. like 1 and 4 the best
Last week, we had record-breaking high temperatures for March in Scotland. It got up to 23.6°C (74°F) not far from here. But last weekend the wind changed, bringing weather from the Arctic so yesterday I woke up to find my back garden looking like this:

Yikes.....only good thing about spring snow is that it doesn't tend to last too long....
One more lilac pic, this time taken using my flash with the lilac on a piece of black granite.

Nice shots Andy and Dave.
Who was a naughty boy then? Got up to my usual bad habits and went to a food and wine night, for some very serious exploration of wine textures and matched food courses. The wines of the night were a 2001 Chateau Kirwan a 1999 Reserve Barbaresco and a 2004 Gewurztramminer. Food of the night was the starter a miso soup and a twice cooked duck breast. There were cheeses and dessert wines but that's a bit hazy.
Someone has to do it, right...

Mmmmm, Cab/Merlot. I'll take it.
Love the lighting, Dave. Very moody.
Hi, that may be the same weather that's reached the south of Sweden by now. Yesterday I got some inspiration to take e few macros of spring flowers. I spent an hour or so on the ground and came up with a lot of shots similar to the first one. The weather report was talking about snow, but I didn't really believe them. No. 2 and 3 show what it looked like this morning - they were obviously right. There will be no crawling on the ground today.
Spring is here!

Playing at 6400 ISO with the MK3. When we watch TV Bo likes us to watch him. These are handheld, SOOC, no noise reduction no PP at all,the first is a 100% crop of the image. 1/40sec f/2.8. Usable??
