Can't usually get my son to sit still long enough for a portrait - sorry! I'm usually running behind him, today with Canon 350D XT, 50mm 1.8 (f2 1/250 aprox from memory). Favourite photographer Ansel Adams. I would love to one dayaspire toBresson's 'decisive moment' but as a 'happy-snapper' I'm starting with the 'lucky moment' :-)

 Hi Thomas,

Did you follow a tutorial for the lomo effect?

Here a few that might interest you:

 http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-make-digital-photos-look-like-lomo-photography

 http://www.photoshopsupport.com/photoshop-blog/09/lomo-photo/lomo-photoshop-tutorial-lomo-photos.html

I've found each of those to give good results.

 Rodger,

Yes, I used the tutorial at DPS, it was easy to follow and the results are cool. I'm working on a few more to post when I get a chance.

 Thanks!

 Liamisnowon,

I think you have taken some fantastic shots. I'd like to know the technical particulars, but I don't really have anything critical. Excellent work.

 kzuk9237,

First shot of the girl: very sharp, good lighting. Very nice catch light in the eyes, but unfortunate that the glasses frame is covering her right eye.

Re: Post Your Best Portrait Shots!

Yes, all of the shots that I posted are natural lighting...including the bw's...the one b&w was honestly a surprise. It was dark...not great lighting, but I was able to catch the person in the forefront as he was talking to someone else real quick as some light through a window hit him...then when I opened up the image, the other person was in the background, I didn't even realize it when I took the shot....then some processing with Lightroom, and turned out to be a photo that carries lots of emotion...

Just did this one over the weekend... my daughters Sweet 16th party.

Used two 600W Visico Strobes w/Soft boxes on their lowest settings (one at 10' and the other at 15'), Canon 70-200 2.8 L @ 200mm from 24' away, f3.2. no PP other than a bump up in exposure. I would have preferred adding a shoot-thru umbrella for back-light but there was just no room.

 http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2650/...52429f75_b.jpg

Here's the Flickr link for other strobed pics. Several other good shots but lots of poor ones too. Not enough room in foyer so you could see the end of the pool table in some lol... oh well, it was all for fun anyhow. I posted most so the kids who were in the pics could download them for themselves.

This is from a shoot I did yesterday. I used a little on camera fill flash (bare 580 EX II) set on ETTLtilted upward to feather the light hittingthe modeland only lighting her face a little. I processed the RAW file in CS4 no cropping neccessary and used the Portraiture 2 plugin from imagenomic to smooth the skin on the weakest setting. The "magic cannonball" is amazing, it almost never comes off my camera...

Re: Post Your Best Portrait Shots!

 Thanks jcmeza_21,

The shot could have been made with any of theXXD cameras, a 50 1.4 @ f2 (80mm FF equivalent) and a 430ex (if I had that stuff). The equipment is definitely nice but it's knowing how to use what you have that matters. It does look amazing at 21MP though [;)].
