Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
I don't mean to slight anybody else, but Nate, overall, you're the best bird photographer I know of.
Now, granted, I'm sheltered, but, rivals anything i've seen in a magazine.
Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Thanks for the encouragment Colin, I'm glad you like my work. I'm just lucky to live in an area where there are a few bird sanctuaries, hence more opportunities.
If you want to see great bird photography I recommend you checking out www.birdphotographers.net, I can only dream of some of those guys' work.

Lightning flash lights up the background 580EXII @1/1 fills the Owl.

Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Keith, dumb question, but how did you get the lightning and the flash in the picture?
I'm guessing long shutter speed (for the lightning) and 2nd curtain synch on the 580EXII?
Cool pictures!
One word for the second one: "EYESSSS" sick photo!
Re: Post Your Best Nature Shots!
Thanks Roger!
it was a 1/2 second exposure, f/7.1 ISO 640, 40D 100-400 @400mm, second curtain. It was tough I was focusing in the dark waiting for lightning flashes for focus assist. It was about 100 feet away. I did move slightly closer for the second shot.

Does this qualify as a "nature shot" ?
