Re: Post your best Black and White Photo
I truly think this is one of your best yet, Wally! I love it! Those eyes are captivating!
I guess we are on the same b&w wave-length tonight ...
Except mine is more of a blue & white, I guess!

Thanks, Steve!
I tried to do a slow shutter speed on this one to get the water smooth as glass but the boat was moving around to much :(

Wally, This is a cool shot. I definately see why you pulled it out of archives. Love the detail, contrast and mood of the whole thing. Nice job.

Re: Post your best Black and White Photo
This shot was nearly B+W when i took it, didn't take much to rip out the last bit of colour to enter it in the competition over at CR.
It's a canal boat in fog, between RIjswijk and Delft (which is part of the main canal from Rotterdam to Amsterdam) near where I used to work in the Netherlands, taken with my lensbaby one morning (i got the early tram and got off a stop early to take photos one day).
The best bit about it is its environmental message, which is out of frame; on the side there's a banner which translates to "here travels a traffic jam of 16 trucks". Kind of takes you back to the 19th century (if it weren't for the car on the back of the barge).

Been to my Daughter in Law 40th Birthday. Had a great time, used 5DMKII + 50mm f1/4 EX580, took 180+shots and found a shot I liked, so here it is.

Re: Post your best Black and White Photo
Wonderful portrait, Wally! Perfect b&w conversion!
I thought I would try a little slow shutter speed w/ nd filter. Hopefully the next time I try it, I will have a more interested subject and composition!

Classy minimalistic approach Denise, very good processing.
Mine isn't as classy, but I call it "down boy." Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Thanks, Mark! You are correct about the composition. I am finding I lack a great deal when it comes to composing pictures to have the greatest impact! This one was a no-brainer though and I should have realized it! Thank you for pointing it out!

Re: Post your best Black and White Photo
I saw this teenage boy sitting by Lake Michigan by himself after school let out for the day. I couldn't help but wonder if he was just enjoying the view or if he was troubled. From past experience, I know Lake Michigan can have a profound healing effect when a person has had a not so terrific day.
