Awww, see Sean? And you thought Mom liked ME best!
Sweet heavens they
Took this one late last night. It was fun.

That's cool Sean. [H] Nice catch with the ball in the frame...that must have taken a little time to get right. I have always wanted to try something like that.
I ended up doing about 50 shots, and to be honest, I never got the right pose/facial expression with the exact ball position I wanted. However, as the tripod position, lighting, and exposure never changed, I was able to use a shot where the ball was just right and combine it with a shot where I liked my pose. Truth is, given enough tries, I could have gotten it all in one shot. There were a couple of shots I was almost happy with. However, in the end, it just proved too easy to combine two shots than to keep shooting until I got the exact shot I was looking for in camera.
Cool. I really like these kind of shots. I also like the fact that you have to think and plan the shot, it
Yeah, I
This is definitely NOT one of the best shots of me. The unshaven growth on my upper lip is for charity. I'm growing this "mo" during the month of "Movember" in support of mens health, especially male cancers.

I wondered if any other members are taking part and might be willing to share their current progress pictures?

Well, Ok, If I must. Me, my wife and a friend of ours decided to break out the camera after probably a few too many---and this is what I came up with----edited under the same conditions. I am on the left.

Another great shot, Sean! Everytime I see one of your photos, it always inspires me to try one more time to try and get it right!
@ Bob - Awesome!!! Looks like a fun time & if it were a comedy show, I would definitely tune in!!
Bob, are you giving your friend a wet Willie??? Sorry if no one understands what I mean.
Sean, great shot. Glad to see your out enjoying this warm weather we are having.
Am I the only one surprised to see that Bob looks more like a human and less like a white wolf in that shot?
Let's revive this thread with some business attire:

Nice work Sean, But I have to ask "Used Car Salesman or Mafia Hit Man" Must be Mafia Hit Man because a used car salesman could never have a matching shirt and tie;).
Again, Very Nice Lighting pose but I think the light on the left side of your head may be a little too hot.
Bob
Sean, looking sharp as usual :)
I rode a mountainbike marathon(103km) yesterday and there was a photographer after about 85/90km sitting on a slightly downwards path waiting for some action to happen. I prepared for a nice photo, looked at her, she looked at me like she knew what I wanted. I accelerated for a bit and hopped into the air for a more spectacular photo. She smiled and I thought she nailed the shot. I was happy :D
This is the result:

Somewhat different than I had imagined:p Still no awesome mountainbike-photo to add to the collection:rolleyes:
Ohh, are they bikes.
At least that orange jacket matches your eyes Jan.
Yikes... that shot is not exactly worthy of your 103 km bike ride, to say the least. I'm jealous you can ride now... our MTB season is still quite far away. On the plus side, our skiing is still excellent.
Oehhh thank you Steve, you're the first who noticed:D And yep those are bikes. Pretty big bikes.
Well winter was 2,5 weeks of heavy frost this year. It's now over 10C during the days already(gray weather:(), perhaps we'll get a delayed winter, who knows. I ride throughout the entire year, because we hardly have real seasons. I'd like to get some real snow around here though. That would be nice;)
To be fair, I would have liked a nice photo, but this was probably just as much fun. Ps: I also found out that I'd rather have a little shorter, but more intensive rides. 50k is more than enough for me:o By the way mountainbiking is not really a good word for what I do, there's no mountains around. Cross-country cycling is probably more suited. I guess I would be very jealous if I knew where you ride your bike ;)
Yes we have it pretty good (while the season lasts). This shot is from last summer... a self-portrait with my G12. I had just finished the big climb from the lake below, and was about to embark on a long, screaming singletrack down the other side. Fortunately I was wearing my helmet and body armour, because I took a big spill right in front of group of hikers. The first thing I checked was the bike --- it was fine --- and then my body (not too much blood, so also fine). Can't wait to get back there!

Wow, that looks amazing Jonathan! Thanks for the reply. That type of environment I've seen only once in my life...last years holiday to Norway:o
The biggest "mountain" in the area here is about 65m high or so haha:p But with the mud and all it's still heavy on the legs. Your spot seems truly awesome and I believe you when you say you need bodyprotection and a helmet. Even in our low-land I still managed to park my bike against a tree last weekend so maybe I should consider some more protection than just a helmet as well:p
Again, really cool shot. During my trip to Norway I have created the idea of bringing my bike with me when I travel, but my girlfriend isn't too snappy on the idea just yet:rolleyes: (that's why I'm building a bike for her as well)Mountainbiking in the Netherlands is more about having a constant pace 20-25km/h, with small up and down sections with a lot of turns. Today I found my dad's P&S that he never uses so I might take that with me when I go biking the next time:D
Ps: do you need a full suspension there or do you use a hardtail? I can't really see it.
My doctor keeps telling me to avoid salt. Oh well.

Thanks for the comments --- I am riding a Santa Cruz "Tallboy", with full suspension and 29" wheels. It eats up the roots & rocks so well, it's almost unfair. (Sorry everyone to be talking about mountain biking on a photo forum... it's something I'm just as passionate about).
I had a chance to do some portraits yesterday. Didn't realize the hair light wasn't showing up until I was processing. Oh well. This is my first try at self portraits. Tried to follow the forehead out and down method to reduce my double. :D

I like the pose, composition, and lighting...but the post processing seems a bit on the heavy side for my taste. Other than that, I'd say "well done!"
I thought you had posted a less processed one earlier today, but I was holding off on responding until I could see it on my monitor (phones just don't do pictures justice). Did you take it back down?
Sorry, I did something wrong with my picassa stuff, but here it is. I still have it bumped in clarity but everything else I did is gone.
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R...320-E copy.jpg
You would think so, but it actually didn't look as bad when I added the clarity. I think it might have brought out the beard and scars a little more. Maybe it was just my blind eyes looking at it though. Thanks for taking a peek. I enjoyed the process and might have to take a couple more in the near future. I don't know about urban rapper, but I might try something fun next time. ;)
I'm looking forward to it!
Alright, I took this one today and couldn't resist digging the old vanity thread out once more.

It's the 28-70mm f/2.8. It's surprisingly good for a lens that was designed 20 years ago. I picked up a 2002 model in pristine condition (that's the year the 24-70 came out). So far, I'm quite pleased with it.
By the way, the local camera club recently conducted a meeting in which they requested that everyone bring in a short photo slideshow (possibly set to music). Very few people in this particular club appreciate portraiture, and the club judges rarely score one of my portraits better than a 7 (out of 10) whenever there's an open contest (and, generally speaking, "7" is just about the lowest score they give). So I thought I'd have a little fun with my photo slideshow--mine was comprised solely of self-portraits set to, you guessed it, "You're So Vain." :-)
And here I go again...
