Very nice - morning thunderstorms are unusual where I come from.

Ben, that's a stunning image of the balloons. I hope you found somewhere less bumpy to land!
Stuart, those are great action shots from the barrel racing.
Brant, I also like the layers in your third shot of the first batch.
I spent the day at a bird reserve, but the view of the water from one of the hides was obscured by tall grasses so I just took a picture of that instead.

Wow Brant that's some nice lightning. Well captured too.
Andy - the pilot was a superstar. He landed the balloon on the trailer then the guy in the truck drove away slowly as he deflated the balloon so it would fall in a patch with no prickles. Ridiculously impressive! Here's another one from the same morning. This shot's actually been on 500px's front page and most popular travel photo since its upload which is pretty exciting for me.

You were lucky with the pilot. Last time I had a balloon ride was in the Serengeti in Tanzania. The pilot crashed into a termite mound as we were coming in to land.
I'm glad your latest picture has received such recognition, but I can't say I'm surprised. Like any good travel shot it just makes me want to be there.
Ah thanks mate. I've just been editing another shot from a few weeks ago in Croatia. Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of those places that should be on everybody's to-do list. Really impressive. I've been toying with a new logo to watermark my pics with too (have had a couple of the good old "borrowed" images incidents over the last couple of weeks) - any comments? It's a hard thing to do well, I'm not graphically creative enough to come up with something unique unfortunately.

Thanks for viewing....Brant
Great shots here.
@Ben spectacular holiday shots mate.
@Andy liking the serenity of the grass shot
@Dustin great composition from down Mexico way.
@Brant when do you work? You seem to be able to get away and take great shots at will now. Congrats, nice series.
I thought i'd take my camera to work today
As i was invited to work from a race circuit called Croft at Darlington, North East England UK
We have a selection of retro Ford to Maserati, Nissan, Audi Lamborghini and the list goes on so I thought i'd share a few photo's
But what I was unsure about was the Shutter Speed, I had it really high (1600) which on all my photo's it made the cars look like they were standing still when really they were doing 100+ mph, I would of like to get some wheel movement in their but I didn't have time to play around with setting ;-(

Whoa, this is becoming a tough-act-to-follow thread. Nice landscapes, Brant, Dustin, and Ben.
Not so many wide open spaces for me this week.

Here are two I got the other night. I figured I would throw them into this thread as well since it seems to be the most active.

Also, fantastic shot Mark! Where is that?
ahhh...work?? I don't understand ;).....I've just had the good fortune to a couple of photo trips the last few weeks.....it felt good and long overdue....
Thanks Mark....nice shot of Trinity. Enjoy Beantown.....if you are still there, I saw some night video on the news of kids playing in the fountains along the Rose Kennedy Greenway. I almost hoped in my car to drive down...had the makings of some great shots.....
Haven't got out shooting as much lately, but last weekend we had a chance to do a fair bit of kayaking. Mostly I was playing around with a GoPro, but I did pull out the 7D for a few bird shots. Here is one:

Thanks. It's Trinity Church and the John Hancock Tower in Boston. The Boston Public Library is to my right out of frame.
I have some of kids playing in the fountains by the Christian Science campus, but I wasn't happy with how they came out. The best part of the trip (besides the awesome seafood) was a spur of the moment visit to Bromfield Camera, one of only two camera stores in Boston. They had just taken in a 1D Classic with 1300 shutter clicks and 3 pristine L lenses; a 100-400, a 16-35 Mk I, and a 70-200 f2.8 IS Mk I. I worked a decent trade deal for my 70-300L and now own a virtually new 70-200 f2.8 IS Mk I. I like it a lot.
Mark, did you get all three lenses for the 70-300L or just the 70-200 IS Mk I. Either way, congrats on the new glass. But if you got all three, I am floored.
I wish, but no, just the 70-200 IS Mk I for my 70-300 and a little cash on my end. I could have done a little better selling it online, but the hassle and the risk of doing so wasn't something I looked forward to. I'm happy with the deal. The 70-200 is tack sharp and accurate. I set up my bottles-in-a-row test in my office and the focus point was exactly where I was aiming.
Now I'm really looking forward to the airshow here in late August. And the week after the airshow there will be a B-25 here for a week offering rides. I'll be getting many pics of that in flight.
Hi there!
I hope everybody enjoys summer... Here is a first one from a recent trip to southern Italy

Nice shot. That's a pretty nice group on the turkey too! I shot for a long time up until i was about 24 years old and loved 3D. I actually won the Australian FITA, IFAA and 3D champs twice in a row as a junior and then opens and was shooting open freestyle for Merlin Archery for a few years. I've been out of the game for a bit but I'm looking forward to getting back into it once I'm back in Australia. Keep up the good shooting (pun fully intended) :D:D

Seems I haven't been posting much around here lately. Still been taking lots of shots and lurking on the forums, but haven't had much time for processing. Somehow it seems I don't have time for much anymore.... Here are a couple fairly recent shots anyway. Two of the many moods of a child:

Stephen...both are great...but #2...what an expression....with the hat and shirt....that is perfect....great shot...
Stephen, No 2 is incredible! Wonderful expression - love it!
Was little Andrew like that because of what written on the tee-shirt? "I love radishes"... who love radishes ?!? :o
Thanks for the comments! And Steph, the shirt is actually a Peter Rabbit reference (It's written on the shirt, but you can't see that here), so that explains who likes radishes...Rabbits! We were actually taking a few family pictures facing the opposite direction and we were taking a break on the bench. He was new to sitting by himself at the time so we tried balancing him for a few shots of his own...most were happy and smiling, but for some reason he had this frown for a few seconds and I was able to quickly take the shot.

Here is a shot of my good friend Matt that I got last night while he was performing with his band. Decided to experiment with some new filters and brushes to get the grungy look here.
