Re: Post your currently shot pictures
The temps have been well below normal for this time of year around here and I'm beginning to forget what the sun looks like! Today was around 40 - 45 degreesand very, very gloomy but tomorrow is suppose to be close to 80 ...with severethunderstorms! [:'(]
These shots were from today ...I can't wait until the GBH returns to my area of the world!
I watched this little guy steal my old decorative grass all morning to build his nest. I was about to cut it down so new will grow when spring does get here but I guess I'll wait awhile!

Very nice, Denise! I especially like the first one. The little guy/gal with twigs in his/her mouth is a nice touch.

Went for a wander round my back yard again. We have a tropical rainforest part and a drier native part and then some camelias and azaleas and so on.
These are from the tropical bit and a little tree surround that the dogs like to sleep on.

Re: Post your currently shot pictures
Hey Steve,
Beautiful backyard, I like the framing of the statue by the bushes in the 1st one.
Very cool looking Blue Marron. I've never seen one of those before, so I had to look it up(fresh water species). So.., if you do put Louie in the pot, I mean pond [;)], then definitely make sure that your pond [;)] is fresh water and not salted water like a pot for example. [:P]
I'm just sayin'.

Re: Post your currently shot pictures
Unseasonably warm here in SE Wisconsin today....83 degrees. It's like a cruel joke, but I will take it.
The weather brought out all manner of creatures today. This frog was kind enough to wait for a lens change to the 100L Macro and then let me creep pretty darn close.
Both shots ISO 200, f/11, 1/160s on a 7D, handheld, EF 100L IS Macro.

Hottest day of the year so far here as well, but not quite into the 80's. It has brought this European Peacock butterfly out of hibernation.

I posted this dogwood leaf a couple of weeks ago in the macro thread, but it is now too big for a macro lens to capture. I like the way the colour of the wood matches the flowering currant in the background.

I'm over in Minnesota, can't speak for the temperatures here because I just got back from St. Louis a few hours ago, but it got around 90 the other day, too hot for my taste, but I got a shot I am quite proud of...
Canon T1i, EF 24mm, f/2.8 lens, handheld. I knocked down the saturation and vibrancy just a tad, as well as darkening the top of the image a slight bit, but I still love this shot.

Re: Post your currently shot pictures
Went to a mates house last night for a wine club thingo. This guy is a retired doctor and as well as wine and food he is into guns. So when we arrived at his place he had part of his collection laid out for us to look at. Some we were allowed to touch, others we could just look at. The Civil War part of the collection is valued at about $250000. They all looked nice, but the same to me. Apparantly it goes on rarity and condition, with one of the pistols having fancy engraving worth nearly $40000 according to a US dealer.
AnywayI liked the cowboy guns the best.

Re: Post your best current shots
A couple of months ago I posted a picture of Dunottar Castle in less than ideal lighting conditions, so this evening I went back there to see it lit up by the sunset:

5D Mark II, EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM @ 70mm, f/7.1, 1/1000s, ISO 400
I planned the visit to coincide with the full moon rising shortly after sunset. All except me and one other photographer had packed up and gone home before this happened:

@Andy nice castle, probably a bit draughty, did you glue those gulls in place for all those shots? Some look as though they never move.

The framing was deliberate, but there was some luck involved too. I thought I was in the perfect position, but by the time I had levelled the tripod on the uneven ground, the moon had moved and I had to find a new location a few feet away. The gull in silhouette chose the perfect moment to stand up, and I had just few seconds to catch the shot before it flew off. The colour of the moon was quite striking too, since moonrise and sunset were just a few minutes apart. Here's another without the moon touching the castle:
http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5187/...a7d538f8_b.jpg
Same EXIF as 2nd shot posted yesterday, but taken six minutes earlier (four minutes after sunset) from a slightly higher vantage point.
Thanks to others for the positive feedback.
