Lucky you to get such great shots of both of them!! Really nice!
Denise
Thanks Denise, clicking on the photo takes you to photobucket for more pics where my name is bluesman56 ( AKA ) Kyle Wick.
@ Alain, nice shots what sort of dogs are they?
@ Bluesman, excellent action shots, like the sparks.
Thanks for the compliment. Golden retriever/German shepherd mutt for the gold one and golden doodle for the red one
Pardon my blissful ignorance, but I just googled golden doodle and I think I may have been fortunate to put dog after it and the search results revealed your dog. They certainly are an impressive sized dog, is the coat similar to a poodle
Bluesman, nice shots. How did you like the 100-400L?
I haven't had much time to dedicate to taking pictures lately....soa few snapshots from around the house.
I had plant some new grass in a section of my lawn:
Canon 7D, 100 mmL, 1/40th, f/2.8, ISO 200

One of our cats, Ezra---7D, 100mmL, 1/40th, f/2.8, ISO 200 bounced flash from 580II

Did I mention that Ezra hates me? I rescued her from a kill shelter, feed her and put a roof over her head, andshe hates me(7D, 100L, 1/4, f/2.8, ISO 1600)

Finally, about a month ago Bryan posted a tutorial listing the unreleased 1DsIV as a camera it supported. I watched the whole tutorial and near the end the photographer showed a long exposure pictures where he and his wife wrote "Merry Christmas" out with sparklers and then had the flash on the second shutter exposing them. I really liked the shot. So, in the same spirit (7D, EFS 15-85 @ 32 mm, 30 sec, f/11, ISO 200)

Thanks for viewing.
Brant
Yep, Ezra definitely hates you. There is a drip of saliva on her chin there. She is obviously waiting for you to go to sleep Brant. Don
Ha!. But seriously, I have woken up at night and Ezra is on the night stand staring at me..............[:|]
No, I
That cat makes me cry a little inside.... scary.
And to continue, here is someone who looks equally disinterested that their photo is being taken.

I just got a third speedlight... a Vivitar 285HV as well as another CTR-301p trigger. I have been wanting a third light for a while, and this was the first shot from my new set up!
As you can see from the eyes, there is a 580exII 1/2 power camera right shot through a 24" white umbrella. Camera left there is a 285HV shot through a 12" umbrella 1/16 power. Behind subject is a 430ex 1/16 power bare bulb for rim lighting.
I know, I know... not the best setup, but I was excited to have a triforce of light. I do love the options this will create for me, and I am still loving that 85 1.8 I used to take this shot. One hundred percent crop of this is really unbelievable.

Where did you find a 12" umbrella. I have been looking with no luck.

Awesome Denise! That
Thanks! I was hoping to get BIF but sometimes you just have to go with what your given!
I have been at it again, with a Sunday night hit out with some of my wine nerd mates. Six of us lined up for 15 bottles of wine and seven courses of food.
This is one course that was teamed with some Grand Cru Chablis. We ate: Grilled redband snapper on kipfler potatoes, onion & beans and a side of pan fried scallops on pumpkin mash.

Vintages ranges from 1993 Baroloto a youthful 2007 German Riesling. This does appear excessive, but it started at 4.00pm and finished at 2.30am. I was well and truly buggered by the end, but I was breathtested and blew a very low .04, which meant I could have driven home, but cabbed it anyway.
All shots were at 35mm 2500ISO and available lighting and hand held at about 1/80sec.
Somebody has to do it, right?
Steve
A couple recent shots over the weekend...brought the camera out since the weather cancelled my photo shoot at the beach(raining...again!!)
comments are always welcome!! Hope everyone had a fantastic Easter!!

Nice shots gregg, I like the second B&W, there is a flattering softness to it, a nice blur and great light.
And Mason and the dog are as cute as ever, but Mason
Denise, That Bird Portrait looks like it belongs on a stamp!
Steve, Love the composition of the 2nd shot!
Gregg, Nice Series, I especially love the soft lighting in the 1st and 3rd shots!
Rich
Steve and Richard...thank you for the comments. I have had several people whom I've showed that shot of Mason to, who have said I should enter that into the local county fair this year. funny, we had just finished mowing the lawn, and I thought I would bring the camera out for some quick snaps. Gotta love digital!! The picture of my wife, Eowyn, well....I actually got her to smile for me!! she sees the camera come out, and gives me some serious stink eye!!
Thank you for looking.
PROM 2011
My son and his GF, we went to the train station to get a few pictures before the Prom. Just as we were getting out of the vehicle we heard the train about a mile away. We had a just a few minutes to set up, the train was moving pretty slow, 20mph or so. I really wasn't planing a train shot, but I wasn't opposed to improvising.
This is my first real attempt at portraits using off camera flash with the pocket wizards.

Brant, Nice capture of the GBH returning to the nest!

I posted another shot of this young fella in the "Post your Best Portraits" thread, but I thought I'd throw a different one up in here.

Sean...Really nice picture. But I'd be careful with your new protege, he seems to not like bright lights. [:P]
Rich...thanks for the comments. I've now found two rookeries that are fairly easy for me to get to, so hopefully I get a few good shots once the eggs hatch.

Thank you Denise...as always, we can count on you for great input, and great photos!!
@Radical....I really like the 2nd photo...it pulls you right to his eye. Very dramatic. thanks for sharing!!
Love the treatment on your "door series" Gregg.
@Gregg - those door shots are striking. Any PP on the colors and contrast? They are almost surreal.
@Steve..thanks for the words...always appreciated
@thekingb...secrets of the trade...sorry!!
Just kidding.....imported into LR3, a few white balance tweaks and minor correcting, jump to CS5, and from CS5, I use the "Tone Mapping function" from HDR Efex , which gives the "Pseudo" hdr look. But, with some images, you can get a very real, surreal look, as in say, the last picture. I really like it, too, but it doesn't work for every picture, either.
CS5 has a similar function, but not as effective IMHO, and I'm not sure if PhotoMatix Pro does, but I think so.
I will be posting more as time permits, too. The thing I like, though, is I can get the look I want, without getting TOO deep into layers and PP.
I love digital!!
thanks for looking,
Gregg
