I have got a lot of respect to him, I have so much to learn from him, not just the photographic techniques but the bravery, the motivation and responsibility as a photo journalist.
Nice thread by the way.
I also like Zalmaï Ahad, mainly because of his album "Return, Afghanistan". His photos give me a sense of "Impression of Reality".
David Noton
One more, Bryan Carnathan! He simply is a fantastic photographer who have been giving greatly helpful ideas and opinions to all of us here and runs the most informative Canon gear review site ever - The Digital Picture. Thanks to Bryan!
Anton Corbijn
I have several that I cannot choose from.
I think Helen Levitt, a pioneer in street photography and friend of Henri Cartier Bresson, is my favorite photographer. Her work makes me feel good. The use of color and composition (color in later work only) is phenomenal. It's visual poetry and it makes me smile. She passed away recently but her legacy is breathtaking.
Richard Avedon, portrait and fashion photographer, is also one of my favorites. His fashion photographs are fantastic but it's his portraits of the American West that never cease to amaze me. They're so real and so stripped and so fascinating.
Guy Bourdin, a French fashion photographer for Vogue (amongst others), is my personal hero. His work was ground breaking and his influence on magazine and fashion photography can be felt to this very day.
Other names that come to mind (in no particular order) are Diane Arbus, Mary Ellen Mark, Patrick Demarchelier, James Nachtwey, Mario Testino, Helmut Newton, Steven Klein, David Slijper, Henri Cartier Bresson, Garry Winogrand, Matthew Rolston and Nick Knight.
They all come from various periods and fields of photography from documentary and portraits to fashion and celebrities.
I second the vote for Bryan, both for his great photography and his work on this site.
Gary Ladd and Jon Cox aren't too shabby either.
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"]Never really thought of this....Sense Im a newbie into the world of photography. I personally enjoy the photographs more then the photographers, but on the other hand there are alot of great photographers out there. So here are my select few that I have appreciated there work
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"]Joe McNally- for his strobist work
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"]Sinh Nhut Nguyen- for his awesome bird photographs
<span style="font-size: small; font-family: Times New Roman;"]Deffinitly Brian Carnathan- he has offered a awesome knowledge base of Canon equipement.
Anzel Adams- Awesome landscapes
And last but not least myself! Ive learned alot from trial and error....(with more errors to come) [:)]
My 2 cents
Thanks
Joel
I agree with you Benjamin, this photographer is awsome. I prefer the Hidden Afghanistan tho...nice colours !

Cole Barash
Ian Ruhter- I love the concept of his "enabled" project. Inspired me to find something useful to do with photography for my senior project.
Andy Write

My Favorite phographer is ANSEL ADAMS!
By using ancient techniques he created awesome pictures...
I've a few photographers which I admire, for different reasons:
Jill Greenberg aka The Manipulator has great editing skills which gives her work a plastic look, awesome.
Jeff Flindt does some great surfing photography and really captures the moment in a challenging environment.
Bambi Cantrellhas epic portrait skills and really captures emotion.
Next to the big guys, I admire a few local and unknown photographers which have a great feeling for detail.

I'm impressed.[Y]
Simon Cudby - http://cudbyphoto.com/
he has this slow morion feel and flow to his motocross work, if you ride you know what I mean.
Galen Rowell: His landscapes are incredible. www.mountainlight.com, RIP Galen!

All these pictures were taken in one month time frame before my XTI broke. Can't wait till I get the 7D and take some morepictures again! Sometimes when I look at my pictures I think "Did take those?".
Thanks for your kind response,

Hiroshi Nonami. His work is a little studiofied for my present tastes, but the fact they he does what he does with film is astounding.

Just picked up Mountain Light for 12 bucks, got Galen Rowell's Vision for 7. Used bookstores are the greatest. I also like Jack Dykinga a lot, he can be found at Mountain Light Gallery as well.
