I misread your emotion as "innocence lost" and it give the photo a completely different feel. Not a good one at that, but innocently lost, yeah better emotion.

Re: Assignment 5: Portraits and Emotion
This was taken on the streets of Vancouver, BC using manual pre-focus taking advantage of the hyperfocal distance. Camera was held down by my hip and the shot was taken as I walked by. Emotion is "downtrodden."

Well I'm not sure if this counts as a portrait but it shows exhaustion and enjoyment at the same time after a "wide tire bicycle race" a childrens bicycle "race" [:P] After 1 lap of about half a mile this girl was glad to be back at the finish [:D]

Re: Assignment 5: Portraits and Emotion
Taken while ontravelling Cambodia at Tonle Sap (a huge fresh water lake) outside of Siem Reap.
I guess the emotion being conveyed here would be one of Contentment

I photographed this two years ago during my trip to my grandfather's hometown in Ben Tre, Vietnam. These elementary school students are such great subject to photograph. As soon as I raised my camera, they all came and made faces to the cameras, as you can see the girls are more shy than the boys. Notice the school yard is not paved, the children are wearing slippers instead of shoes and if you look carefuly I intentionally added the barbwire fence in the forground.
Taken with my 40D and EF 24-70 f/2.8L
Nate,

Re: Assignment 5: Portraits and Emotion
Nice, Nate. You really captured a nice mood with this.
Kids that age I try to photograph usually think it is funny to cover up the lens with their hands. Maybe the barbed wire helped in more ways than one :)
