Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
This seemed like "just another photo" from a recent trip in Montreal, until I converted it to black and white and cropped it slightly from the bottom. I sort of think it emphasizes the size of these trees relative to the people walking through them. I think it's a bit dramatic, and I like the way the trees form a frame for the people walking.
Let me know what you think, and reassure me if you think this deserves a spot in the "selects' folder. [:)]

Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
All I see in the image space is "Content Protected by Owner." :-(
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
Weird... Sorry about that Sean. Anybody else experiencing this problem?
I'll repost an image directly from my computer. [:(]
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
Yep, I see the same. No picture either.
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
It's a fairly nice "Content protected by owner", in case you were wondering about that. I would have framed it slightly differently and stopped down a bit, but other than that...
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
the text seems a little out of focus, but maybe that is just the low contrast. The lock could use some higher contrast too. ;)

No, it's clearly over-cropped andthe lock and text are zoomed just beyond the point of pixelation. Why anyone with a 10 megapixel camera would feel the need to apply a digital zoom is beyond me. Simply beyond me. [:P]
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
I seem to be seeing some slight vignetting...could be my monitor I guess.
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
LOL Real funny!
I uploaded my own version. Any better?
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
i guess i would like to see some more foreground in front of the people, otherwise great shot...i might be looking at the wrong photo though....considering the recent replies to your thread.....
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
I, too, think the photo would have benefited from a little more foreground...as well as having the human subjects off to one side a bit. As shot, the subjects get lost among the masses of bare branches.
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
I agree with Todd. I like it, it sets a mood. But a little foreground to draw the eye in to the picture would help. As it is, I feel a detached from the scene.
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
Like everyone else more of the foreground would be better most especially if you get to show those tire tracks that will lead to the people walking. Unless the real intention of this photo was to capture the trees which are dominant in this photo.
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
Agree with the other posters, more foreground please!
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
I agree with the previous comments about wanting more foreground visible. Only thing I'd add is abouthow to achieve that - rather than tilting the camera down, I think it would be better to have shot with the camera close to the ground, for that 'eye-drawing' perspective. I susect that would have provided more foreground and brought the people into the image more, while preserving (or even enhancing) the drama of the overhanging tree limbs.
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
I totally agree. I think that's the single most important thing I could have done to make this shot a little more interesting. I could have gotten a little closer, used a wider lens (doh! - Sold my Tokina 12-24[:(]) and shot from closer to the ground, to have the tracks in the snow lead the viewer to the people, which could then play a bigger role in the picture.
Learning... Learning...
Thanks for the critiques so far.

By the way, here's the uncropped version:

HAH! good point!
On a serious note I agree with the comments to see a little more foreground in front of the people. I do like what the picture does to make the trees appear so large!
Re: Not Quite Sure What I Think of This... Need Some Critiques.
I agree--it needs more foreground.
