I am super happy this thread took off. Maybe we should try to do one of these every week. Thanks to all who contributed. This week I didn't get much other than a couple of dandelions. Hope you like. These were with the 7D, 100mm macro with a Kenko 1.4x TC at f4.0.

Hi,
Shot these in the last week, red seems to be a popular colour for these things.
At least they contrast well with the background.

Great Horned owlet
http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/e...or/GHowlet.jpg
The reason they're in a milk crate is because their nest was destroyed in a storm last week.....some birders discovered 1 owlet on the ground and improvised a nest for the family.

Here are three. My kids bought a "butterfly habitat". They were supposed to send away for larvae in the mail and grow them. I was skeptical but they actually grew into butterflies, and on the day they released them I took these.

Thanks, Mike and Denise. The thing we got was called "Insect Lore Live Butterfly Pavilion." The kids loved it. We got it at costco but it's like $15 on amazon.

I should have said:
The first two were shot with the 100mm macro (non-IS), both at f/8 and ISO800. The third (the arm one) was shot with the 24-105, 105mm @ f/5.
