Ok guys. I thought it was a bit redundant to have two of these threads floating about. So, I thought I'd use my mod privilegesand changethe title of this thread to the dates that Jayson would have used (through Sept 12) and delete Jayson's other post. We'll use this one this time, and next week Jayson can perform his regular duties.

Those are great butterfly shots! Since I didn't see a butterfly last week, much less photograph one, I'm changing it up a bit. New trick this week...

Hiking in Bear Brook State Park on Sunday we spotted this little guy. Itis an Red Eft, which is the<span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #000000; font-size: 9pt;"]terrestrial <span style="font-family: Verdana; color: #000000; font-size: 9pt;"]juvenile form of the Eastern Newt.

It pains me to post these as they keep reminding me that summer is *officially*over - once the Canadian National Exhibition closed.

wow butterflies are popular this week. Here's mine. I was at the Academy of Science rain forest exhibit. This was taken with my 24-105 F4 L. Unfortunately I didn't bring my 70-200, but I still liked the results.

Great shot of the GBH, Denise! (Maybe would have benefitted from more DoF, but not sure that you had the shutter speed or ISO to trade.) The portraits of your granddaughter (?) are really nice. The 3rd shot (insect) has great composition, but looks out of focus.
Here are my contributions...
Flume Cascade in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This one was shot with the Joby Gorillapod SLR Zoom that I brought on the family vacation, instead of the full-sized CF tripod. I wrapped the Gorillapod around the guard rail by the side of the highway for this shot, and with a 1/3 s exposure I think it did pretty well!

EOS 7D, EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM @ 17mm, 1/3 s, f/22, ISO 100
This fellow was paddling around a local pond, and was close enough that I was glad I could zoom out to frame the shot...

Re: What did you shoot? August 30th through September 12th
Attempted a photo shoot for two of my kids. Couldn't get a serious face out of my son though. :) My next purchase is going to be a remote trigger for my flash. I do not like the black shade under their eyes in some shots, but the light is coming from above.

I just haven't been able to get the hang of these extension tubes yet, as in this photo (but I keep practicing)...

I took these on a trip out in the Simpson Desert to the horse races in Birdsville, QLD (Australia). 4,000 people ended up being flooded into Birdsville after the biggest rain in 25 years hit. So much fun.
This is set up in the middle of the desert as you come over a big sand dune. There's an old kerosene fridge, washing machine, lounge chair, toilet, stove, microwave just set up in the middle of nowhere. Funny stuff, we had to stop. That's me sitting on the toilet and my mate watching TV in the lounge chair.
