Weekday afternoon, great egret and a GBH on opposite banks of the same stretch of river, within a few minutes of each other:

Over the weekend, wanted to do some landscape shooting but it was overcast and the relatively featureless clouds didn't make for a good shot in the open - so I went under the trees instead...

that was my first time post a picture in this new software, the picture looks smaller although I downsized to 800 Px wide, do you guys have the same problem?

In the Insert Image dialog, there's a Width field. In the old forum software, that field was blank by default, but now it's got a default value of 550 pixels. You can delete that value and leave the field blank, and your 800 pixel image will show at 800 pixels (or if it's wider, it will now automatically be resized, instead of cropped off like before).

Re: What did you shoot? September 13th through September 19th.
First time adding photos to this new set-up so this is a test.! I added this photo to another thread but I've since touched up the background somewhat ...not sure if it's an improvement, I don't like the lines going across.

Denise, love the red tail. Great capture. I can never get close enough to one to get a proper picture, but you have a great one.
Sean, that is awesome lighting. Only wish I could do that half as good as you can.
John, nice luck with the birds being so close in distance from one another. I have to wait 3 months between sightings. Great captures.

Wow, nice shots people! I only shot a few photos at a familyreunion and I will safe you all from seeying those [:P]
Sean, I love the photoshoot with the girls. The angle on the bench shot is great, I like it.
Those butterfly shots are really nice Jayson. It gets me wondering why I have a dedicated macro-lens [;)]
Denise I like what you did with the background, but indeed if it would be smoother it would be better. How did you do this?
Nice work everybody!

Hi Jan -
I wish I knew how to make it smoother and get rid of the lines. I first did it in Elements and it was even worse than this so then I used Corel Paint Shop Pro X3 and got to the edges of the hawk much easier and better but till produced the lines (less noticeable than Elements did, but still there). I had Paint Shop Pro back from my P&S days, very inexpensive program that is easy to use.

Re: What did you shoot? September 13th through September 19th.
Hey Denise,
I quickly tried it in PS CS5 and I'm not getting the lines using the graduated filter, quick example, don't mind the bad selection:

I'm not sure what causes the lines in your one. Is it also visible in the editing software? If it's only visible after saving to JPG it might be a quality-issue or a bad re-size.
Here's the effect when I use a lower quality JPG output:

Thanks, Jayson! I was pretty shocked with the results! Now if I could do that good 50% of the time, I'd be estatic!!

Thanks, Sean! This bird was very cooperative getting his photo taken until he decided to get too close ...I think he wanted to peck at my camera awhile!

My family & I were having Lunch, when this magnificent Clown showed up. As I was lucky to have my 5D MK2 & 24-70mm & flash with me (the gear is not that big to carry around...,,,, LOL) I shot him.

Re: What did you shoot? September 13th through September 19th.
A lot of people like to shoot clowns. Most of them use something with a little more zoom, though, typically rated in feet per second.

Nice Colorful shot for indoors with a flash.
