What's on your B&H Wish list
I was scanning my B&H wishlist and just couldn't help but wonder: Whats on your wish list? I have mine broken in to two groups; My "Fantasy" wish list and my "get when you can" wish list. Please tell me I am not the only one who does this [^o)].
My Fantasy wish list: 1DMKIV, 600L (Cause I really want to do more Bird and wildlife stuff)
Get it when you can list: 135L, Vivitar 285HVflash, another pocket wizard, 1.4 extender and a bunch of miscellaneous stuff like CF cards, batteries, light stands, another pelican case, etc.
I just couldn't help but wonder where your priorites are---

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
LOL! I haven't shopped in awhile and I was actually afraid to look to see what I still had saved in my wishlist from months ago! When I read your post, I thought ..Oh goodness, I wonder what I still have in there!?
It ended up not being to bad! I have mine divided up into Lenses, Lighting, Bags, & Misc. and all I had in there was a number of Singh-Ray filters! But then again ...a few of those and your up to the $ value of a pretty good lens! Guess that's why they are still sitting on my wishlist!

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
[:D]I have been thinking getting a macro lens, either Canon 180mmL or sigma 180mm, but I hope canon will announce a new longer macro with IS (will it be 200mm 4.0L IS macro?)soon
I like to shoot bird, so a 1D body and a 500mm or 600mm are definitely on my wish list.
I want to learn how to use flash and all the lighting stuff. but since I am too lazy( I kind hate setting things up), and too busy, so I don't see it happening in the near future
I wish I have time to take a Photoshop course.
I'm hoping Canon will have a FF Rebel with shorter shutter lag, also the 400mm 5.6 IS, 500mm or 600mm 5.6(of course with reasonable price)
any zoom? If I have to have one more zoom, it's going to be the 16-35 or EF-S17-50
tilted or fish eye?, I'v no idea about these lenses
wait, there are Zeiss lenses, hmmmmm, I think I want to at least own one of them[:D]

My wishlists are entirely cerebral, not stored online anywhere. I don't know if that's better or worse[8-)], but like you I have a 'fantasy' list and a 'get when possible' list.
It's relatively short, since a lot of the little stuff (CF cards, cases, etc.) just get bought when the mood strikes - the only current items on my mental 'reality' wishlist are the 35mm f/1.4L, the 135mm f/2L, and the 5DII. The 500mm f/4L IS is on my 'fantasy' list. Now, that's current products. If you want the full list, that will include some not-yet-released and some not-even-announced products. In order, the reality list looks something like:
- 5DIII
- 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS
- 35mm f/1.4L
- 135mm f/2L
- 5DII
The 5DII is on there because of an upcoming trip to China that will offer mostly portrait and landscape opportunities; I was planning to hold out for the 5DIII, but I'm considering caving and getting the 5DII, then selling it once a successor is released. The trip might move it up in the priority list (and I have sufficient cash in my 'gear fund' to get it today)...

Hmmmm...I'm not big into manual focus, but I am big into Zeiss. By a rough estimate, over the last 5 years I've spent around $1.5 million dollars(corporate money, of course)on Zeiss microscopes. You'd think they could at least give me a21mm f/2.8 Distagon T* ZE as a 'thank you' gift, right??

Im' sure the sales rep can get his hands on a demo copy for his "regular-high dollar" customers--Seriously, I used to get a box of pecans every year for Christmas from one of my vendors, and I only spent $100K on his equipment. [:O]

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
Decided to hold of now of any major purchases (new lenses, etc).
Saving the pennies now for a new full frame camera in about 3-5 years time frame - what ever it may be. Depending on the monies saved a least on new lenses too.
The other thing is some nice back drops and lighting kit with umbrellas.

been handholding for a while now, parking it on the round hood first too much, I missed many shots due to that, still prefer handholding, but tripod/gimbal head can come handy sometimes.

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
Well, what I want B&H doesn't sell and that's more work to fund future purchases. I recently sold some lenses I wasn't using much and purchased a 16-35 f/2.8L II so I am set for lenses for awhile. There is nothing like a hobby that pays for itself.[8-|] I could use a lighter tripod/ball head for a future trip to Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Antelope slots, but I have time for that. Maybe the 5D Mk III will be out by then but the batteries and grip I have today on the 5D won't work if I know Canon, so I could add those to my list too. I am too boring to have a fantasy list I guess[:S]. Making better use of what I have today makes the most sense to me right now. I know that is not a post to drool over but that is where my thought are today, sorry.

Generally, fast macro lenses do not make sense. When shooting at macro distances, the depth of field is very, very shallow - even at narrow apertures. There is already a (non-macro) 100mm f/2 - it's a great and relatively inexpensive lens.

That's the problem with a mental list - I forgot that this was on it! [:P] I'd slot this in between the 35L and 135L on my list.

Yep - if I ever end up with one, the main purpose would be for local (i.e. driving) outings to shoot birds/wildlife. If I go back to Africa, I'd likely take it, but not on a typical trip 'just in case'....

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
Good Day Every One:
Using my 2 Pentax K1000 film camera so I am not as tempted to always be needing/want that just gotta have next item. From B&H I would wish for
1. 100 roles of Fuji Velvia 50 ISO
2. 50 roles of Fuji Velvia 100 ISO
3. 100 roles of Fuji Provia 400X ISO
and then enough strength to carry all the gear that I need for both my 50D & my Pentax K1000s as I go up & then come back down again.[:D]

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
I have a pretty modest wishlist I suppose, but it still makes me salivate hoping for the day I can afford all of it:
7D
70-200 f4 L IS
10-22
Something tells me I'm not dreaming enough. And the bummer is that by the time I can afford any of this (in about four years when I start working as a pharmacist), the 7D probably won't be available anymore?

Alex, Your right, Then you will be dreaming of and 8 or 9D or possibly 1DsMk6---You have us all beat. And the really cool thing is that you will probably have enough experience by then to really take advantage of all the cool features Canon will put on those camera's.
Keep dreaming, but above all----KEEP SHOOTING.

Wayne----Kudos to you, It has been so long since I thought about Film---But your right, When I was shooting film, all I wanted was more film. I even used to reload my own stuff to save a buck or two. Is the Velvia and Provia slide or print film?

I have a big white lens on my list as well, and I am absolutely confident that I would find a means to tote it, even if it meant giving up other pseudo-essential things---Like water, food, clean underwear etc, The lens is coming with me.
Seriously--I have always admired those who shoot with a limited number of primes. They really seem to know what they are shooting and know what it takes to get the shot. I would love to get to that level. I think those who would spend 5-11 thousand dollars on a lens have a specific purpose in mind and wouldn't think twice about hauling that hardware around. I suppose, thats why it might be worth a rental, just to see if thats what your really willng to endure for your particular genre.

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
Hi Bob:
Velvia and Provia are both slide/transparency film. I'm working with my 50D so I am getting a bit more comfortable with it. The thing is that I just really like the look of film. It may stem from the fact that, that was what my grandfather started me on and taught me with. Typical stupid young person back then though. I never listened or learned as much as I should have and when I could no longer ask him was when I realized just what I had missed. If I ever get to be half as talented as he was I will really have accomplished something.
I just got another idea for a wish list from B&H, the means and interest to take lessons to become a better photographer.

Re: What's on your B&H Wish list
On my "Fantasy" wish list is the mighty 1200mm f/5.6. But there is a better chance of them replacing it with a MK II versionbefore I buythat lens!
Inthe verydistant furture is the Canon 800mm f/5.6 and the latest full-frame. Mabye.
In the near future is a full-frame, Samyang 14mm f/2.8, Samyang 35mm f/1.4, and mabye the FD 50mm f/1.2 and FD85mm f/1.2.

Induro CT 414 tripod
Induro BHD 3
Sigma 12-24mm
Canon 85mm f/1.2L (in the wishing well of wish lists)
By the way, Denise how are you liking your Induro gear?
