Wow.., These are all fantastic!
Jayson, I really like the 2nd one the best.
Kayaker, I like them all however, the second one is my favorite. You should check out the Circ. Polar. thread, because I think your 3rd shot might possibly benefit from a CP Filter.
JJ, I think this shot, is one of my favorites of yours. It looks like a painting, simply awesome!

thanks Rich!
I did take this one in "golden time", so I like the lighting and background though the image quality of birds are not that good.

Great shots so far! Like JJphoto, I only had a couple of hours to hike through the outdoors last week. Here's one shot from the outing:

JJ, I love this photo of the birds! Your catch of the full wing span is great and the background is really beautiful!
John - Portraits of your daughter would be beautiful even with a $200 kit lens but with the 85L II, portraits of a little girl don

John Great shots of your daughter. Simply stunning. Love the marigold patch shot!
JJPhoto, great capture. For an only keeper, I think it was well worth the other shots practicing[;)]

I am in agreement with everyone else. Great pic JJ, simply awesome. And John, while the photos of your daughter are great; the lighting and sharpness on the ducks is amazing. All of them are great photos.
Rich, thanks for the tip. I just bought the circular polarizer filter for that lens. So that thread is very timely.

The moon shot was 1/80 at f8 and 200 ISO. I tinkered and had -1 2/3 EV cranked in.

First one is Brisbane at night and my first go with cross screen filter. Obviously not the best way to use it but abit of fun.

This one is late one afternoon at Wellington Point, a 6 second exposure the shadow of the fisherman is still visible.

Spirit Bear, Gribbell Island, British Columbia
Canon 1D3, 300 mm f/2.8 lens
The Spirit Bear, or Kermode bear, is a rare white variant of the black bear. It is caused by a recessive gene and is found only on two islands on the British Columbia coast. The bear is not albino --- it still hasa black nose and black eyes. To see one takes a bit of patience and a lot of luck. This was my second attempt...we did the same trip two years ago and failed to spot one. But only one in ten bears in the area are white, so success is certainly not guaranteed.

Denise,
<span style="font-size: 11.6667px;"]You had a nice week!
<span style="font-size: 11.6667px;"]Nice sharp focus while panning the GBH. It really pops off the screen with nice separation from the background. I think this may be your best one yet.
<span style="font-size: 11.6667px;"]Is the 3rd one titled, Broad side of a Barn, or a Broad on the side of a Barn? [:D] LOL.

Neuro - Thank you so much for the compliment! I think I may FINALLY be seeing some improvements!! Now here's hoping I'll start seeing some improvement in my portrait taking over the long, cold winter when I hibernate!
Rich - Thank you! I agree, I think this is the best one out of the hmmm...few hundred I've attempted! Practice makes perfect! [:P] Oh as far as the broad on the side of the barn, if she was there, I'm sorry I missed her but I'll keep my eye out for that good ol' country gal for younext time!! [;)]

I went on holidays to the Daintree area here is Oz. It's a really stunning place where the rainforest meets the sea. The weather was pretty wet most of the trip but I managed to get a few good shots in.

I took a photo of a bird! (Crazy I know). This is a Brolga, it's part of the crane family apparently. They're native to Australia and actually feature on the emblem for the state of Queensland (where I live). These guys are massive, they stand around 1.5m high and have a 2.5m wingspan (that's about 8ft for you Northern hemispherites). They're very skittish too so I was lucky to get a shot away.
