First Photo Sale Gone Bad ....HELP!!
[:'(][:'(][:'(]
Well, most of you know I sold my first photo a about a week or so ago of this ..
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4112/...652753b8_z.jpg
I ordered a 17x11.33Print on Canvas, sides black from AdoramaPix, also giving them permission to auto-correct if necessary. It only took a week and I received it today.
My only worry upon order was the auto-corrrect decision but I am very pleased with whatever minimal correction they may have made. I don't really see any change in my original photo.
The problem ...
All sides are a nice smooth, tight wrap except one side! It is wavy and bumpy! [:'(] Also, you can see this looking at the photo head-on and you can see a small section of canvas sticking out that is the original canvas color!! Against the black side this is very noticeable! [:'(] Also, above the wing of one of the birds, if you run your hand along the canvas you can feel a raised area, it sort of looks like maybe a drop of clear glue and another very small droplet of few inches to the right of the larger one. You can see it in the photo below.
Am I being too picky!?????
Here are a few photos I took, they do understate what it truly looks like but will give you some idea. I had just opened the boxand did not have the patience to get the lightingsetup while trying to make dinner and feed three hungry dogs that are staring at me! Rush! Rush! Rush!
Please tell your opinion of what you would think of this if it were your first order and sale ...

Should I show this to the buyer and see what he thinks or should I just ship it back? Should I email adorama first? Anyone know if Adorama would reimburse the shipping or do I eat that? I didn't see a return form in the box. Should I trust them to redo it since I do like the photo itself or should I cancel and ask for a refund? If I go elsewhere, it will probably cost more $.
Any advice and or opinions greatly appreciated!!

Re: First Photo Sale Gone Bad ....HELP!!
Call Adorama first. They should make this good and eat the cost. My lab does. I do let my lab color correct for me.
This just looks like poor workmanship to me.

I wouldn't think so either....but after I thought about it a little more..
If the glue can be removed..they might can just remove staples and re-stretch the picture.
I am sure they will have all the answers for you tomorrow...
What they didn't count on was someone with a 100mm 2.8F L IS macro to keep em in line [:P]

Thank you to Sean for putting Denise in direct contact with me; I will be onto this as soon as the lab opens.

I'm sure they will just reship a new one to you. Never head of a print company needing the product back. My only experience was with bad cuts on a batch of photos from an unnamed company... they had reprints at my door by 2pm the next day, without even needing any input from me other than my original email. Ask for overnight or 2nd day shipping for free!

Well, it's noon here and I'm still waiting to hear what the lab manager has to say on what can or will be done about the photo. In the meantime, I guess I will go talk to the customer now about where I'm at with it. I was putting it off hoping I would have some answers on when or if a new one will be received. I hate having to tell him that I don't know.

You've got Helen Oster on your side! She makes things happen. I don't know how you do it. First Gary Fong, and now Helen.

Re: First Photo Sale Gone Bad ....HELP!!
I forget just how long it has been, I tell my customers 3 weeks on prints like this. With my lab, that usually give me time for issues like this to be corrected. Longer around the holidays.

It has only been a week so I guess I have some time. I didn't give him a date since I had no idea myself. Adorama never even emailed me it was shipped. Thank goodness I had someone at the house to retrieve it.

It helps to know people in all the right places! Now if I could just become chums with someone @ Canon, I'd be set!! [H]

Re: First Photo Sale Gone Bad ....HELP!!
I hope it works out for you Denise. I quickly looked at the 3 canvas prints in my room and yours is definitely poorly done. Good luck, you'll be fine! [Y]

The lab have assured me that they are working hard to get it out within the next couple of days.

As far as customer service goes, Helen should get an award for her superb dedication!!! This lady rocks and I cannot thank Sean S. enough for putting me in touch with her!!
I am able to keep the first photo and the photo lab is sending me a new one at no additional charge. I should have the second photo within a week and have fingers crossed that the 2nd one will be a charm!
Plus, Helen gave me a $25 coupon to use toward a future purchase!
Now, how's that for customer service!!!! [Y]

I'm glad to hear that. Helen is great. On the few times I've corresponded with her, I got the impression that she genuinely cared about her customer base. She strives to make sure you're satisfied as an Adorama customer.

Without a doubt! And I should also stress the fact that there was all resolved in less than a day due to her personally handling the situation!

Re: First Photo Sale Gone Bad ....HELP!!
Well, I received the second photo a few days ago. The framing on this one was very well done so no complaints there. Lower left corner of the front of the photo had areas of white canvas that did not take to the print that was put on it (I guess that's the best way to describe it). Thank goodness my daughter has hundreds of different color markers and I was able to touch it up with an exact color!
I gave the customer the photo today and he LOVED it and so did everyone else that saw it! He had me sign the corner & since I was nervous about doing this, it's not exactly the best looking signature! He even made me come up with a name for it (duh)! Anyway, I named it "Beginning of a New Dawn" ...since my middle name is Dawn and it's my first photo sold. How symbolic is that! [:P]
Now I have numerous people that want me to get my site up and running on zenfolio and many that want family Christmas photos done! [:O] OMG! I have one photo that's decent enough to put on zenfolio and I'm horrible at lighting for portraits! SEAN& BOB...I'm going to need your help!!!!
Thanks all for reading my novel of my first sale experience! [;)]

That's actually a good thing. I heard pros use a different autograph when signing things. Crooked people would copy it and write bad checks and junk like that. The pro-ish looking people could have also just been blowing smoke at me for their own ego, and unlike Bill Clinton, I inhaled everything they were blowing out. Congrats on the sale DDT.

That's ok ...I'm related to Sam. He's my uncle! And you guys thought Daniel was the only one here with a famous relative! [:P]

Re: First Photo Sale Gone Bad ....HELP!!
Isn't Sam related to Kevin Bacon?.. That was weak. Sorry, it's late. I almost pulled my leg muscle to stetch for that old K.B. reference, but didn't have the energy to finish it out. I might edit it in the morning.
