Have you noticed that nearly no one says "PHOtographer" properly? Everyone says "FER-tographer." No one ever says they are taking a "ferto" or a "fertograph", but they all refer to people who take pictures as "FERtographers."
Perhaps I am grumpy today.
There a quite a few very good Fur-tographers that post very regularly to this site. I don't mind them.
And it is certainly better to be a Furtographer, than to be asked, "Would you please take my "pharto", mate?";)

I may be Italian from my mothers side but my father is from the south and for some wierd reason I do tend to say many words with quite the southern drawl so now that you bring this up, I just took a minute or two and said it a couple times and just realized I say "phEtographer".
Not quite as bad as how I pronounce some other words though being the midwest italian-hillbilly that I am!
What'er y'all talkin' 'bout on this here fertografy forrrm. Tha ain't nuttin wrerong with how I pernounce "fertografy."
[being from Georgia, I'm an expert in adding syllables where there are none, removing them from where they're supposed to be, and mispernouncin' all kinds of words]
Ah, the lot of you are from the States, aren't you? (even Steve is from the 51st state, Brisvegas or so).
Come down to South Australia, we're probably the only ones who actually pronounce english properly...
It is a US English thing, I guess. I am a transplanted southerner, but I hear it all the time in Pennsylvania, and from the news presenters on CNN, etc.. But if you listen, EVERYONE does it.
In the US we do not speak English. Remember, we fought a war well over 200 years ago to break away from English rule. We speak American.:rolleyes: and it is quite different.Quote:

Just be glad you're not in New England, where the terminal letter 'r' is missing from the local patois, and they say, "phertahhhgraphahhhhhh."

Come across to Mount Isa, where it's a requirement by law to say 'eh' at the end of every sentence. In fact, 'eh' essentially replaces the '?' at the end of a sentence. e.g. "Dat camra's a flash one eh!"Quote:

Talk to an American, or watch TV on CNN. Photographs are taken by Fertographers.
I have to admit the "fee" "free" and "faux" did bring a chuckle - glad there is a sense of humor.
Having come from Detroit and lived in Northern Wisconsin for 30 years during the winter of 2002.... Rest assured our Ontario friends stole the 'eh from someone and "Yuse guys" is fairly common in both the north woods fo Wisconsin and New Jersey.

Unfortunately I am a fatographer - which explains why I am a landscape/macro guy - they don't move as fast. :)

funny topic. gotta give it up to Neuroanatomist, that is funny (pho-nny?). could go for a bucket sized bowl of pho-ga about now. in regards to "Fer-tographer" I promise no longer to say it in that dialect. Fer sure, I promise.
