Image of the Week......Week#3

Entry period will be from Sunday to Sunday, with this first one closing on the 7 July.
Only two categories; Portrait and Landscape
Portrait- Anything with eyes, people, animals
Landscape- Country, town, city, sea, abstract, things (water drops, smoke, flowers, candles and so on)

Each category will have a winner each week and this week judged hopefully by the very skillful Erno.:rolleyes:
Then a poll to sort out monthly winners.

From the looks of it already, there are top notch over the top photographs spilling in already!Sean, Joel, and Tunis are setting a really high bar. Keep 'em coming, Erno.

While you probably deserve to have 4 entries in the image of the month voting, I would like to see you pass your artistic eye over a few images from others. At least for one week. :)

You said it Steve.... this is far and away the nicest Blue Jay photo I have ever seen. The pose is perfect, and the sharpness and DOF are exactly on par with Joel's already high standard. Simply fantastic!

First time posting in this forum, hello everyone :)

Some really top notch shots so far. I primarily enjoy portraiture, but not of people. People and I don't get along that great. Any type of animal is fair game though. So here are a few of my favorites in my very brief (4~ months) time with photography.

Thanks again Steve for letting me choose, but this isn't the easiest task as everyone posted wonderful images this past week. Well here goes for the WINNERS:

1. LANDSCAPE goes to Sean Setters for FIREWORKS ON THE RIVER. Both the framing and exposure are perfection here. Sean makes shooting fireworks look like it's easy-peasy, but from first hand experience I know this not to be the case. Congrats!

2. PORTRAIT goes to Joel for BLUE JAY. It's photographs like these that keep me from doing bird photography! This is [pure top shelf quality. The feathers on this creature look as if they were stained glass. The clarity of the subject and creamy background stand strong on their own, and when put together, WHOA!

I saw on your FB page that you are getting into wildlife as well. Although, I'm still not sure if that wasn't staged/planned, and the squirrel signed a model release, and you had all your lighting there ...
