2016 - Image of the Week #14

Welcome to TDP forum's "Image of the Week" competition. Each week photographers may submit their images to compete for the title of "Image of the Week." Weekly winners will then compete on a monthly, quarterly and finally in an annual poll for the title of "TDP Image of the Year."

• There will be only one weekly winner.
• This entry period for Week 14 will be from Monday March 28th through/including Sunday April 3rd.
• Please supply a title for your image.
• This is an open competition for landscape, portrait, architectural, macro and any other appropriate photographic style.
• Images should have been either recently taken or processed.
• Enter as many times as you would like.

The Cannon Blast at Fort Pulaski by Sean Setters, on Flickr

The camera was placed in the fort's yard where spectators were not allowed to be at the time of the cannon firing demonstration. I used the MIOPS Camera Trigger to remotely fire the 5D III in continuous mode just as the "Fire!" command rang out.

I applied a wet plate effect in Photoshop CC using Google Nik's Analog Efex Pro 2 because, well...I thought it suited the image. :-)

Nice picture Sean, it seems there is no anachronistic elements in there :)

To give a bit of context for those who are not familiar with lacrosse, if you get a penalty you have to take a knee in the penalty box and your team has to play a man down, similar to hockey.

Spring Has Sprung

As usual another difficult choice.

I always have a problem with selecting a winner from photos of such diverse styles.

So to help me choose I downloaded the Lickable App for my phone, following the recommendation from Sean. I didn't much like the results, so I used last years Smellable App.

So my winner is Spring Has Sprung.

Thank you so much! There were some great entries this past week and every one of them is a winner in their own right!

I have been practicing flash photography in my kitchen and with this shot, I think the practice was finally starting to be beneficial.
