Re: Post your best nature shots - 2010
Denise, nice one of the bluebird but you need narrower aperture because the bird isn't in focus. Or use singlept AF
David; your 1st GBH is my favorite. I HATE ponds that have too many green reflections so the water looks icky for photos...
muc1, thanks; you seem to have a lot of weird/amazing creatures where you live!

Canon 50d + Tokina 12-24 f4 @ 12mm f22 1/4" ISO-100 on tripod w/ 2 sec release to minimize vibration. I twas about 3 feet from the bottom of this cascade and it was about 7-8 feet tall, didn't fall in though.

Yeah, I only had it set at 5.6 but when I view the AF points in DPP they are right on the bird so I figure it was good enough. I wouldn't go so far as to say the bird is out of focus though. Oh well, it was the first time I had ever seen a bluebird except for in books, so it is one of my favorites!

Re: Post your best nature shots - 2010
Thanks Rodger,
Taking that shot scared me a bit as I was about 3 feet from that cascade with all of my equipment.... [:|]
Re: Post your best nature shots - 2010
f/5.6 should have enough DOF for your blue bird as long as he is properly focused. Butjudging from for photo it looks in focus. But whether it is in perfect focus or notis imposible to tell from that low resolution. If you were touse asmaller apeture you would not get the beutifullbokeh that you have.
The whole image looks soft, try more sharpening after down-rezing.
Either way great shot,
John.

Hi bburns223,
Lots of weird things Here and in Thailand those pink things are snail eggs, not sure if the spider is caring for them.
