Fantastic shots, John! Sharpnessis dead on and color is perfect! Did you post-process in DxO? If so, did you just use the default or something else?
Thanks, Denise! Yes, I used DxO - the Default v2 preset. For the pileated WP, I used the Medium setting for Lighting and+25 Vibrancy.
John that is by far the coolest picture of a red winged black bird that I have seen. Great timing!

Spent last week in Michigan with Charles Glatzer of Shoot The Light for a photo workshop. Had a fantastic time!
Any and all comments are welcome!

Beautiful pictures...........
Mike, Great Shots---The first is my favorite, but in the 6th, the birds head almost seems transparent---really great capture.

Do I dare post after photos like that!? I hope to be that good someday but in the meantime, I'll just keep on shooting and posting...

Thanks guys!
Denise - I used a 7D with a 300 f/2.8 IS and 1.4 TC for most of those pics. The loon coming out of the water was taken with my 1D MK1 and a 70-200 f/2.8 IS. And I like the Heron but try to get a lower angle next time, it makes a huge difference. The motion is well documented and the exposure is spot on.
