Nice action shot! We try to make it a practice here to always post the particulars of the shot itself, so others can see how you accomplished the excellent picture. If you have an opportunity, please comment with the body, lens, focal length, f/stop, ISO, camera mode, etc. You may even want to just do it by editing your original post, so the info will be linked with the shot.

It is 800 pixels. The only reason I know is that I received a message on this when I joined this forum (very recently). It says "For display in the forums, size your images to 800px (or less) in width. The limits for uploading files to the site are currently set to 1024k max per image and 5120k max overall". Good deal! Thanks for the absolute answer! I guess it never affect's me as I use the medium size on flickr's sharing option. It always seems small enough.

I hope I'm not anoying anybody, but nobody has film bird shot? I would love to see what others have done with film.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Wes,
What lens (combo?) did you use for this shot?
-
Re: Post your best bird shots!
Sorry should have put that in the original post. 300 F/4 + 1.4 TC. Also this is a full frame shot.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
While I am waiting for someone to post a film bird picture, I will have to entertain myself with this one.[:D]

This was taken with my Rebel k2, Minolta 600mm f/6.3, fujifilm ISO 200 speed film.
Hope you all like it,

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Rule #1 not to break - always bring the better camera with you. During a trip to visit family in the north I took the children sled riding (a first for them) and brought my wife's A470. I'll title this picture "High Hopes", as in I hope that my photography skills improve greatly during 2010.
Have a great New Year.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Awesome thread! Here's one of my favorites:
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3025/...9c90edfb_b.jpg
(40D & 70-200 f/4L IS @ 200mm, f/4, 1/250, ISO 200
Also, just for completeness, here's every bird I've ever seen in my entire life: :)
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3320/...6a4d93674f.jpg
(5DII & 70-200 f/4L IS (w/1.4x teleconverter) @ 280mm, f/5.6, 1/2000, ISO 400)
Thank you for the nice words, Oren. I've modified the post with a larger version of the first photo; the second one's too wide and gets cropped off, so I'll leave it as-is for now.
-
Re: Post your best bird shots!
Beautiful pictures Aaron, can you post larger versions?
Welcome to the forums by the way [;)]

Re: Post your best bird shots!
Also, please remember to post technical specs on your shots. We newbies can use them to better our own techniques, you know!

Here's a few shots of mine from last weekend. The pictures are linked from Facebook, so the quality is pretty bad. But oh well, this is the quickest way for me to post.

What type of bird is that? I'm guessing a type of finch by the beak. It's colours blend really well with the surroundings.

It's a House Sparow.

Re: Post your best bird shots!
It's far more exotic than the house sparrows in my garden (in Ireland). A different species where you're based?
-
Re: Post your best bird shots!
It should be the same species, I'm in Washington state. Mabye the very saturated colors make it more exotic looking.

Nate, as Fast Glass said I've never thought you could improve from your already-perfect shots, but once again I'm amazed!
How many hours in a week do you spend on getting these shots by the way?
