Beautiful place. That would be a great place to spend some time to dissect all the possibilities of the potental landscapes.

I am processing photos from my family get together in the San Juan Islands this past July. One of the days, we went on a whale watch. We caught up with a pod of Orcas and the guides thought they had a kill as several were almost frolicking near the surface.
Not that I think this is a good picture, but the first shot has 5 orcas in it and something else that caught my eye:

Just to the right of center, that is not an orca.

Another shot:

I am thinking it is a Chinook salmon, but, it almost seems too big when you compare it to the orcas. It didn't jump, rather it in 5 frames and it rose and then flopped to the side. It is reminding me a little of the smaller fish that jump out of the water as stripper bass are chasing them. My guess is that it is a huge Chinook trying to avoid the orcas but it can not fully elevate itself out of the water.
Anyway, I thought it was interesting....If you have a better idea as to what is occurring, let me know.
sea monster lol
I am going to guess harbor porpoise based on color, shape, and texture. Looks like a flipper in the first picture. I love catching something odd in a shot. Adds a bit of mystery :D
I think you are right.

I got this shot last week on the way to work. Got it with a 70-200 mm. It turned out better than I expected because I was all twisted and contorted trying to get an unobstructed shot at the right orientation.
Today is opening day of Deer Hunting Gun Season in Michigan... it's a bit like a State holiday around here. It got me wondering how this guy is fairing today.
