    Re: Deterring Crime

I agree with Bill, though you may want to check your local laws on using bear spray on a human. If it is life or death, sure anything goes. But a pick-pocket or peeping tom may be a different story....

    Re: Help about new lens

I agree with Ben. I have the 70-200 f/4 (non IS) and I love it. It is an outdoor daylight lens though. I used it for some ice hockey games (indoor) and I had to push the iso on my camera further than...

    Re: Missing forum e-mail notifications

I'm jealous, I have the opposite problem of you folks. I have all my settings set to not receive notifications, but I automatically get e-mails for replies to threads that I have posted in if I use...
  5. Re: Lenses hold their value? I'm beginning to wonder!

Don't forget to consider fred miranda for selling the lens. They have a huge buying pool and a lens like that will most likely sell in just a couple hours, assuming you list it at a comparable value...
  6. Re: Please share your thoughts on this: 1000D to 2nd-hand 50D

Have you considered the ef-s 17-55 lens? You lose a good bit of the focal length compared to the 24-105, but you will gain low light performance. I have the 50D (and the 17-55) and I love the camera....
  7. Re: Whats the best prime lens for low light conditions? that has good fast AF for the canon rebel t2i?

Caleb, these posts (your question) and their answers are frequently a combination of opinion (what's the best) and budget. Can you afford the best? The two lenses mentioned by Matt are $1350 and...

Nice photos. Looks like you got some good results from the 85mm.

I like #4 the best because you can see the facial expressions and it's a good capture of offense vs defense.

    Thanks for...

Thanks for sharing Denise. I have subscribed to Syl's articles on his website for a while and have learned a great deal from him. I intend to get his book in the near future. I sure am glad to see it...

Thanks for sharing and congrats on your purchase. I will echo what Greg mentioned as far as keeping an eye on your lines.

My favorite is #2. I like how the reds and blue really stand out.

    Re: Tripod idea

What you are considering is exactly what I did. I bought the arca swiss z1 (used) and a manfrotto 055xprob. It is a pretty heavy setup, but I love it. I highly recommend it. The manfrotto is very...

    Re: Need photographing food tips!

    Dave-

For me, the close-up in the third set doesn't look very appetizing. It is hard to see what it is. I think that is a dish that needs to be seen in it's entirety.

    I'm not sure the full...
  14. Re: Help with Photo Selection for Gallery Print

This will be my one and only bump to try to get some input on who to use for the prints. I will let the thread die if I don't get any interest.

Thanks for the help so far.

    Re: Need photographing food tips!

My favorite is the second set, the image on the left. As you said, you don't have to include the entire dish.

You didn't ask for C&C, so I will keep that to myself. Besides, I'm an...

Re: A few of my images, C&C please

  18. Help with Photo Selection for Gallery Print

I a plan on trying something new and purchasing a gallery print of one of my fireworks photos. I have never ordered one before, so I don't have any experience with who to use.

As tkerr mentioned, I would have preferred the results if the bowls had been filled. As it is now, it is hard for me to appreciate the subject (water) because of the distraction (bowl).

Re: Which Lens Package would you prefer?

    Christian

If you want my thoughts...I would never get rid of the 70-200 2.8 II if I had it. I personally think you wold be giving up way more than you'd be gaining.
