Lovely shots, @C4RBON! I looked for an aurora over the weekend, but didn't see anything. Then again, I was at home and I live in a Bortle class 5 area.

Lovely shots, @C4RBON! I looked for an aurora over the weekend, but didn't see anything. Then again, I was at home and I live in a Bortle class 5 area.
Thanks and I see what you did there.
Thanks, everyone!

The central image of the composite is itself a merge of two exposures, one for the corona and the other for Baily’s beads. It occurs to me that while corona + Baily’s makes a nice image, Corona +...

Nice, Mike!
I decided to KISS, just brought the R3, 600/4 and 1.4x. Better to enjoy the event with family than juggling two cameras, filters, etc. I set the camera to a 7-shot bracket covering a...
Getting close now. We're fortunate here, the weather forecast for northern Vermont is clear and sunny (though this is New England where they say, "If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes,")....
I believe focus bracketing forces use of electronic shutter, and so far among Canon mirrorless bodies only the R3 can use flash at all with electronic shutter.
The R3 does support focus bracketing...
There are certainly some EF lenses for which there is no RF analog. I will be keeping my TS-E 17/24 and my MP-E 65, and we'll see when/if Canon offers something in RF to replace them.
Of lenses...

Apologies, I missed this question. I use the Baader ASBF 50. Given your comments above about needing to quickly remove the filters during the totality, I wanted to avoid threaded filters. Looking at...
I found that to be true over the holidays, as well. I had the 14-35/4 and 70-200/2.8 handy, but didn’t use them. Last year, I mostly used the 28-70/2 but also needed wider and longer. The size/weight...
I'm definitely enjoying the lens so far!
I think it slows down a little with the 2x, but the AF is so fast natively that any difference is barely perceptible.
Wasn't even aware of the setting, and mine is on the default of 'best display size' that according to Flickr is currently a maximum of 2048 pixels for free accounts, and 6144 pixels for Pro accounts...
I'm sure we'll see a global shutter from Canon at some point. Canon is definitely not an envelope-pusher when it comes to sensors. Personally, I have not had any issues with rolling shutter effects...
Global shutter comes at a price – noise. According to DPR, Sony claims the a9 III, "...doesn't compromise on ISO performance or dynamic range." Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I suppose they...
The R3 can do a RAW burst at up to 195 fps. Useful for water drops and not much else for me.
Affordable reach, even for FF, is a great and really unique attribute of the R system. The RF 100-400 is inexpensive (especially timed right, I paid $500), and optically it’s nearly as good as the RF...
When Canon launched the EOS M system, the EF-M 22mm f/2 was one of the two lenses that launched with the system (the M18-55 was the other). The M11-22 was launched the following year. With RF-S,...
For me, the RF 24-105/2.8 addresses a long-running quandary of wanting more range on the long end vs wanting a wider aperture for my standard zoom. I've had both the EF 24-105/4L and the EF...
