Press release:
EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens
The EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro
IS USM lens could very well be the essential multipurpose lens for
every camera bag due to its ability to capture...
Wow, George, that's the longest post I have ever seen... even the website alone I need some time to digest...
Thank you sooo much for the detailed explanation!
I bought mine from DBROTH on Amazon, usually cheaper than B&H and Adorama, and is pretty reliable.
I really don't mind the auto-focus, manual focus is fine but you've got to deliver the IQ Zeiss has been boasting about!
I, too, was disappointed at the testing results from Bryan for the 85 1.4...
Purely in terms of sharpness, the f/4L IS is thee best one among Canon's L zooms, from corner to corner wide open. f/2.8L IS cannot really compare to it when stopped down to f4, only say "similar"

According to Bryan's review there will be significant vignetting if you get a B+W UV filter with "normal thickness", so he recommended buying a slim version
But the problem with slim ones is...
I say it'd be of great help if you guys can post pictures of ur actual setup/fully loaded..
I sometimes just have hard time trying to figure that out...
u take 4 580EX with u all the time? how are u gonna mount them ...
Does it harm the CMOS sensor doing such long time exposure? Excessive heat generated?
Hmm, a little overexposed?
You mean it maintains the exposure setting from mode to mode? That's neat (I forgot to check if my 5D2 does so... probably it doesnt)
I speculate, though, another reason Canon did not bring down the price is because they don't want to look bad.
Nikon D3X is now 8k, if 1Ds3 drops more, people would simply tend to think that...
I have actually known about the existence of this lens for a while. And I was actually wondering why Bryan did not have the review for this lens (because he seems to have reviewed all the Canon EF...
I think the problem really lies in:
Is the ZE mount as sharp as the ZF mount (or even earlier Y/C mount)
When the reviews came out, I was a bit disappointed at Zeiss 50 f/1.4 ZE mount...
very nice explanation [H]
I saw that Bryan has both, anybody knows the typical difference between the two?
Thanks for the reply, I didn't quite understand what does ST-E2 have anything to do about "bouncing the flash"?
The latest PW supports ETTL-II, though...
Now I am aware of how these two use different technology (RF vs infrared), just want to see if anybody has used both of them and what they want to say about them, as in "pros and cons" for each?
...
Do you have a reference?
Seems the flippable LCD was a wild guess :)
From the spec, it looks like a "5D2 lite"
And also, I am wondering what role 50D would play in the market now...
But this also depends on...

Seems to have a flippable LCD!
I have heard from my friends in China that in March, the price line for Canon lenses is expected to go up as many as 10% ...
I am not sure if it is only a local thing or what, so I googled and...
My naive choice is Lightroom, because it runs both on Windows and Mac (I have multiple systems at home) :D
Couldnt be more true [H]
No doubt about it!
85 1.2 is the next L lens I wanna purchase
It is the remaining signature of an era (I consider the other two 50 1.0 and 200 1.8)
