There is a feature on some cameras that actually captures some frames that happened before you pressed the shutter ... not sure what they call this .... but comes in very handy when trying to capture...

This an example in very low light just before dark

As you can see it is at ISO 12,800 so very low light conditions and, like most...

To illustrate what I described earlier this is a screen shot from DDP4 showing the focus point.

When I raised the camera and pointed it at the bird the AF immediately locked on as shown.

My experience is similar to Brant with BIF, it's not 100% perfect but works very very well

Even at extreme distances the Eye AF performs amazingly well:

That is interesting news and may explain why some users are not too impressed with the R5's auto focus capability. Mine has been amazing for birds and people since I first acquired it and I think...

I have had some fun with the R5 and flight shots of the pair of Tanagers in my yard. The key is that I noticed they have a very consistent flight path to and from the feeders....

Jayson....thanks for your ideas but, to me, it might look unnatural to have both birds in focus since they were perched pretty...
