  1. Re: Portrait Photography - My Frustration Level is Peaking!

    Denise,

One thing you might try is to buy a big teddy bear. I use one to test a set up all the time. It sits very still and doesn't get impatient if I'm not happy and spend time fiddling around....

    Loved it !!

Very similar work profile and I'm looking to upgrade early in the new financial year (July here in Australia). Your comments give every reason to be confident I'm doing the right thing. I especially...

Couldn't make the "edit" function work but here are the photos re-sized to fit.

Re: Post Your Best Motor-sport Photos

Yeah, I noticed that. The photos were cropped to 900 x 600, which is apparently too wide.

Can anyone tell me if I can edit the original post to replace the chopped photos or even delete it and...

Re: Post Your Best Motor-sport Photos

Here are a few of mine. My commercial work is almost entirely indoors, but I do enjoy shooting a bit of sports for fun.

Re: Am I doing something wrong?

I like the "covered in paint" phot very much - it's got quite a bit of character. The other not so much (even without the added pasties).

There may well be people here to give you better...

Re: Am I doing something wrong?

    Harold,

Regarding your points/questions of 22 November:

Manual focus - no. I'd use AI Servo but certainly one of the AF modes. My point was to set the focus point on the eyes rather than the...

    They are very well done.

Please post the exif data - speed, aperture, iso, lens, etc - for our reference.

Re: Am I doing something wrong?

    A couple of suggestions/observations:

I always set the focus point on the eyes. I find that if the eyes are absolutely focussed the picture has the overall impression of being well focussed.

    Re: The "Strobist's" Bag?

Not a lot of use if you live in the USA, but I carry much of my gear - light stands, tripods, umbrellas, etc, etc - in a cricketer's gear bag. A type of long duffle bag they are designed to hold...

Re: 24-70 vs 24-105 (Great Debate!?)

OK, I've got both lenses. I tend to use the 24-70 on the1D much more when I'm doing paid work, but I tend to use the 24-105 on the 5D when I'm just out taking photos for myself. The 5D with 24-105 is...

    Re: How 'bout some Ferraris

Just noticed the shape. These were 900x600. I thought I'd saved them as 600x400. Hence the "chopped" noses as the site crops them to 800 wide. My mistake in not noticing the size.

Re: My favourite lens - the 85mm f1.2L

My two bodies are a 1D MkIIN and a 5D, the original one (that I guess is now being called a Mk I).
