Hey Brant...just saw this subject line.
As Joel, I suspected water also.
As you mentioned the "bubbler" I use (in the backyard) is perfect for the HBs; i.e. makes gurgling and splashing noises that...
Morning Brant;
Glad to see you've reached the saturation point. It's quite the rabbit hole, researching for a new equipment backpack.
I went through this same dilemma a couple of years ago. I...
Thanks Joel....I've been capturing quite a few this season.

Done Sean.....price for Canon repair was too high versus version lll on Ebay. Also, I can see a marked improvement in pic quality w/the version lll.
Again, thanks for your input.
Bill
I really enjoy capturing the ruby throated hummingbirds with a slow shutter speed and a long lens to highlight their wing speed; 500 f4 with 1.4x, f6.3, 1/160th, ISO 640
...
Thanks Sean....I've repeated the process and made sure the connections between the camera, 1.4, and lenses were correct....to no avail.
Guess I'll contact Canon and set up a repair.

I rented the 100-400 vers 2 for a trip to photograph Puffins on Machias Island and...
thanks Stuart.....I'll discuss w/my other 2 cohorts and let you know. It would probably be the same days.....you available weekdays?
Beautiful capture Stuart....where'd you go to capture this GGO.
I was just up there, Thur, Fri, and left Saturday. We spent our time in Chateauguay at the Refuge faunique at Marguerte-D'Youville. ...
Thank you Stu......

LOL Raid....it's a shot I've been trying to get for a couple of weeks....I think I succeeded, although I will keep shooting low shutter speed photos.

Pat....sorry, late to the party; first congrats on the purchase, secondly, you shouldn't have any issues.
My experience has been great w/both refurbed lenses and a camera body.....I like the idea...
