The boat is significantly bigger, probably a 50 footer. There is a top deck and a closed section on the main deck so i should be safe...

I am heading out on a whale watch expedition today. Iam going to take several good shots (I Hope!), but i am concerned about exposing my gear to the salt air. The trip is +/- 3 hours.

I recommend a "neutral" filter. Nikon make a great one ($100.00 here in Canada). I also purchased the Canon lens hood which is a must.
