Struggling to decide between Brant and Jonathan's shots.
Zach, better focus, and I like the stronger color, but I preferred the original positioning.
Stephen, nice star-trail, but I find...
JPEG has lossy compression which throws away data the eye typically doesn't see (unless you really drop the quality slider!) assuming you're not viewing it up close or anything. Every print service...
As we only have two entries so far, I'm going to give Zach some critique now, in case he wants to post another attempt.
The concept is great, but I personally dislike when not a single flower is...
Not diffraction related, but speaking of the M, I thought the M mount was being gently swept aside to be replaced by the R mount. Instead, it looks like we're keeping both new mounts. Choice...
How are you viewing the jpeg? It could be the colors are correct, but the color profile embedded in the jpeg is ignored by your viewer.
A quick fix would be to tell Lightroom to export as sRGB.
It might be a tie, but one things for certain... Jen kicked Brant's butt. ;)
The "Just left of center" positioning feels off.
Ideally you'd be well off center (rule of thirds). I feel like proper center would be better here. I crudely cropped it (ie: held my hand over...
Also on Mac, and completely free. In a terminal (ie: Command Prompt)
rsync -av /Volumes/GSPMain/Pics /Volumes/GSPBackup/Pics
I've heard modern Windows includes a Linux shell. Perhaps you have...
Congrats Brant.

Man, you guys don't make this easy, but I'm giving the week to Brant's wife, with "Pug Love". A high-quality entry from a new participant.
Congrats Joel, and thanks for holding off on a bird shot for the week. ;)
The weekly assignments pretty much killed off 95% of other threads.

Odd. The 7DmkII has an intervalometer built-in. You would assume any camera after that would also include it, except perhaps the Rebel series (gotta force those upgrades somehow, no matter how...
Yeah, my first impression was more chroma noise too. I wondering, when you apply +3 exposure, and noise reduction, does ACR do the noise reduction before or after scaling everything * 8.
What if...
I think maybe the steps you list for the sensor are for CCD, not CMOS sensors. Chuck says "I cannot speak for other manufacturers' products, but EOS Digital SLRs with Canon CMOS image sensors do not...
Sean, maybe you can get yourself a gig being B&H's version of Mark Wallace (The AdoramaTV one, which oddly isn't any of the ones Google thinks are important)
This week goes to Sean and the "Dalmatian Orchid". Nice stack-work.
I'm still lurking around. Winter has never been a big photo-time for me, as it's dark by the time I'm off work. My daughter is off doing things most evenings now, and already has plans for most of...
For any Canadians out there, Henry's, Vistek, and TheCameraStore all have the same deal. CAD$1699 (just under the converted US price), and they'll throw in the EF mount adapter (not the one with the...
Not sure everyone wants feedback, but here goes:
"Stefansdom near sunset" is a nice church shot. It could use a perspective correction, and some highlight recovery on the sky. The tiling on the...
