My take on it with a really quick edit in DPP.
Mine has the same thing and I have seen this talked about on several boards and believe it is something that comes along with this lens for the reasons Keith has mentioned.
DPP is the editing program that comes with Canon DSLR.
I use Photoshop Elements 7. It has a batch process option. Before I start I create a folder to down load them to so they don't overwrite the original. Once you hit the batch process option you will...

Alan that is the reason it works when they are taped because it isn't reporting the combined aperture. You shouldn't need to have it taped on the 300 though since even with the TC you are still just...
Ozimax those are some beautiful shots of some wonderful looking birds.
Jayson to answer your question yes most of mine are crops to some extent. I have the 300 F\4 and use it with the 1.4TC alot but still wished I could afford a 500 F\4 so just have to practice getting...
That is a beautiful shot Nate.
I was about 40 ft from it parked in the middle of the road. He was in a tree right next to the road. This is a crop of about 70% of the original. I was using 50D, 300 F\4+1.4TC, 1/400, F\6.3 ISO 400.
Dennis the first one looks soft on my screen and the light on the back wall is distracting to me. The really like the second one alot. A shot through umbrella might help with the lighting also. Nice...
Thanks Bob. Today was the first time I had seen on. Had to look it up when I got home.
A found thisRed ShoulderHawk setting in a tree rite by the road during a snow storm we were having today. Looks like he was having a bad hair day.

IMO DPP is the best program for working with Canon RAW files after that if you want to do anything else you can convert to TIFF or JPEG and import them into what ever other program you use. I do...
That sounds cool.
Love the backgrounds here. I think the first could use a little more DOF to get the head and tail feathers a little sharper. Looking at the histogram it could be a little bright also IMO only. They...
Thanks for the info Daniel.
Well they do look pretty good. Some nits though to help you improve. The shot of the bird looks to be over sharpened. The dogs shot I like alot expected on the first one I would like to see the eye a...
Where did you get 3.8 as it isn't on the Canon USA site anywhere?
A house down the road from my office. Taken after a record breaking 12 1/2 inches of the wonderful white stuff fell in 24 hrs.

No you don't loose the ability to zoom your shots when reviewing them. All your doing is switching the function of the AF On and * button every thing else works the same. I tried it the standard way...
Yes it is a little bit of chrominance noise and DPP will take care of it. It is about what I would expectto see in that crop with that dark background based on what the histogram showed me. I...
