I think that the 5DII, 7D (not to speak of the XXD-Class) have poor viewf
From what I've heard so far from canonrumors' review (which is actually done by some other guy), and from Bryan's review, the Mk IV's focusing performance has improved a lot over the Mk III.

IMHO, I'd like to see some more texture of the cake. Get closer if you can!
The colors and lighting seem good, but I think you could've done a little better regarding composition - I want to...
One last piece of advice that might get overlooked many times:
Your camera doesn't matter. It is *You* who takes great pictures. Don't waste a lot of time worrying "Is my lens sharp enough?"....
Between ISO 1600 and 3200, quality takes a little dip. And from then on, the dip becomes deeper. But for me 3200 is still usable, noise is okay. ISO 6400 for emergencies only with noise-reduction...
I like creativity! For me, I don't see trees or my attention wanders to them. Maybe you can position the camera somewhere else, so it only shows you, the rainy window and the trees? The camera...
That reminds me of a Youtube video of Chase Jarvis describing his technique when doing high-speed photography.
I think, in short, he said that not shutter speeds stops motion, but the flash...
What? Sharp?
It is somewhat sharp, considering it's f1,0... Contrast wide open isn't really great and CA is present. Although the new 50mm f1,2 isn't flawless regarding CAs either. I am a little...
I'm down too. Let's discuss the details in a seperate thread, to end the threadjacking here.
Someone wants to open the new thread? I'm too chicken :P
Yes, Garrett-Grimsely, I still would appreciate some tight, close up headshots and head/shoulder portrait shots of your rented lens.
Enjoy it!
@Sean: Yes, let's start a booty...
I loved the Pentax line too, haha..
Wait.. Are you guys threadjacking this, and turning it into a booty-comparison contest?
If so, I will look through my archive for a contribution ;)
Looking good!
Thanks for sharing!
Seems like I want the 50L *and* the 35L ;) A 16-35 for portrait seems obscene to me.. Haha!
Keith,
Thanks for your input! I am considering the 50L at this time, shot some test shots at the photo store on Tuesday. Lookin' good, except some CAs under certain conditions, especially glossy...
Hey Garrett-Grimsley!
I have a "crush" on this lens since a while, and consider buying it. But unfortunately, no rental shop in Austria carries it (they only have the 50L and the 24L, not the...
Thanks guys for your advice! So I guess I should rent the 35L for a weekend for tryouts.
The EF 135 F2? I seem confused.. To my knowledge, longer focal lengths compress the image - which...
Hello all,
I could really use your input on this matter.
I also do the "other" kind of portraiture work - meaning: nudes. My current lens lineup includes:
The Canon 24-105mm f4, the...
Yes yes, I realize. Your photos are very nice and accurately exposed! That's what I like about them.
I just - personally - don't like messing up a properly exposed photo by using a filter that...
I dunno, at first I was interested in the soft-focus effect too.
But giving it a closer look, the softness does something whacky with the highlights. They just lose all detail and look weird. It...
Wow, you could get that up close to a dragonfly (last picture)?
Nice. Am I the only one, or am I seeing massive CA's in the last pic. Particularly the eyes of the dragonfly and the branch it's...
Well, Bryan provides excellent ISO chart crops. Why not take the time to actually look at them yourself and share your thoughts?
Judging by my quick glance at the chart at various apertures,...
Heya,
I need to apologize, my post might have sounded a little pissy. I'm really sorry for coming across weird. I also have the Macro and love it ;)
Sulla: Very sorry on the IS-topic. I...
Sulla,
While I also have the new IS Macro lens, I happened to see some apparent mistakes in your very enthusiastic review.
This is not meant insulting by any means, but: Have you ever used a macro lens that goes up to 1:1? I checked your profile and I saw none listed.
What do you want to photograph with the MP-E...
