Great shots, my experience with eye AF is similar to yours, can't wait for chances at flight shots.

I think the Harrier has more of a "mask" with light colored areas around it's eyes.

Thanks! One perk of living in the woods is lots of woodpeckers ..... downside is ten tons of leaves to be dealt with annually and constant roof maintenance. Trees shed unbelievable amounts of stuff...

Northern Flickers are visiting my feeders quite often now ... I have seen as many as 6 at one time:)

I took these images this morning with the R5 + EF 100-400mm II + 2.0 TC III + EF-RF adapter.

It was heavily overcast so I had to use higher ISO and lower shutter speeds than I would ordinarily...

The Version III 2.0 TC does have upgraded electronics compared to Version II.

I think the overall performance is somewhat dependent on the lens you are using.
